Christopher Mintz-Plasse talks Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall
"I talked to Matthew and he's like, 'I don't know if I would ever direct it, but I would definitely be on board to produce it.' And I've thought, Eli Roth would be such a cool director for this. Or someone who hasn't done a comic book movie but gets horror 'cause it's very violent. Very bloody. But Chloe's working up a storm, man. She's non-stop. So, who knows if we'll ever do it? I know I would love to, and I think Aaron would love to. I'm sure Chloe would, but we're all just kind of busy right now."
We reported back in January that Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall will not be Matthew Vaughn's next project. Now it seems he won't direct the sequel at all.
The actor also talked about the horror remake Fright Night, which hits theaters on August 19. Christopher Mintz-Plasse talked about his experience on the remake, and the extensive makeup work which had to be done for his character.
"I was in my makeup chair for four hours every morning, which is a pain in the ass. I was so stoked when I got cast. People who know Fright Night, my character turns into a vampire, as you know. I was just so stoked, I'd never gotten to do that before. I was like, 'I'm gonna look so badass.' They gave me the contacts to keep, so I've got my next Halloween costume already in order."
The to Do List comes to theaters August 16th, 2013 and stars Clark Gregg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Rachel Bilson, Aubrey Plaza, Andy Samberg, Connie Britton, Alia Shawkat, Bill Hader. The film is directed by Maggie Carey.
Kick-Ass 2 comes to theaters August 16th, 2013 and stars Chloe Moretz, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow.
Fright Night was released August 19th, 2011 and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Dave Franco, Reid Ewing. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie.

I'm excited for Kick-Ass 2, I loved the first one and bought it when it first released.

@rojodiablo -- That's the problem, as long as they get a "new" director, their not gonna stick with the "same" formula. Most(if not all) movies that get new directors' go in a totally different direction(pun not intended). It's just not gonna work out if they get a new director, in my opinion.

This sequel doesn't need Vaughn back for it to be successful, not after how well the first one was. I like most of Roth's work but regardless of who directs, as long as they follow the formula of the first film, it should be solid.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx good point regarding spider man. I mean, eli roth can direct well if given the right project. and we definitely know that he can act (inglorious bastards) so we'll never know until we see the film. him directing will be interesting though if it does happen...

What Eli Roth??
If he directs a sequel to Kick Ass it would go in history as the worst comic book movie
This guy really sucks, I mean do I have to mention hostel?

Plus, if he doesn't direct it, we may not get the original cast, but who knows. I mean, look what happened to "Spider-man".

@insertusernamehere -- In my opinion, the original was clearly great, only because of him. He brought a refreshing, "F**k you!" superhero movie, that slowed down during the beginning, only to start pacing, then sprinted across the finish line by the end. The directing style he added to this film was marvelous, I mean, have you seen the action-scenes in this? Freakin' original and brilliant.
If he doesn't direct this, it's gonna be a fail, and I'll go as far to say that.

ok so they dont know if or when KA2 is coming out. but they DO know that vaughn is NOT directing it, yet the thing at the bottom says it's out in 2012 and directed by vaughn. anyone else see a problem here?

I hope we get a Kick-Ass 2, but if not bring on a Kick-Ass or Hit-Girl animated cartoon series.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx well, i guess thats true. but still, thats not fair to the ppl who haven't seen the original. I mean, for good measure, they could have put SPOILER ALERT atleast. its like they don't give a sh*t.

Although Kick-Ass wasn't as funny as I anticipated, it was still a fun movie to watch. No Matthew sucks but please, PLEASE Hollywood, do NOT let Eli Roth direct the sequel. That has bad written all over it.

No Kick-Ass 2? That Sucks big time. Then Vaughn just should go ahead and do James Bond since X-Men first Class had so much influence of Bond. And screw the other projects. Just do Bond.

Millar has only made two or three issues of Kick-Ass 2. Since he says he planned out an eight issue tale, and that he seems to be in no rush, releasing an issue every four to six months, get comfortable waiting guys. A movie isn't happening anytime soon.

Nice. Gets a thumbs up just cuz it's about Kick-Ass. I really hope we get the sequel soon, but yeah, Chloe has been on a movie overload which is good because as a child actress she's been been doing quite well and definitely deserves all these roles she's getting.
