Christopher McQuarrie Writing Wolverine Sequel

Christopher McQuarrie, best known for writing the screenplay The Usual Suspects, has been hired to write the next chapter in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine saga. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writer also penned the original screenplay for the first X-Men, but had his name removed because he felt Bryan Singer's film was more in line with David Hayter's final draft.

Hugh Jackman will return to star as the popular Marvel mutant. Part 2's storyline is being drafted from an early 80s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries, which placed Wolverine in Japan where he battled ninjas and struggled to follow the strict code of the samurai. This storyline was hinted at in an after credit sequence during X-Men Origins: Wolverine's theatrical run.

Wolverine's up coming sequel does not have a set release date at this time, but producers hope to have it in theaters by 2011.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released May 1st, 2009 and stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Will i Am, Lynn Collins, Kevin Durand, Dominic Monaghan, Taylor Kitsch. The film is directed by Gavin Hood.

I liked both The Usual Suspects and Valkire; I look forward to it's release. Although, it's probably best if I actually see Wolverine first.

And not to be a dick, but "X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Revenge of the Silver Samurai" is way to f*cking long. ;)

Vital, the reason why you found Valkyrie boring is probably because you did not understand it, i suggest reading the book first, luck of the devil. Superman Returns was a little dreamy i must admit, but let's give credit for his take on the character. And Usual Suspects for me was blady good.

''GIVE ME THE KEYS YOU F*CKING C*CK SUCKER'' classic line.

I don't think Bryan Singer is bad, but his movies thus far have been kinda half assed it seems. He shoulda made X-Men 1 better cause it was pretty corny. X-Men 2 was better in many ways and probably Singer's best film in the 2000s decade. Superman Returns was so boring my friends and I were joking about it at the theater during the movie (the theater was empty) and I have never done that with a movie before so that's not good haha. I remember saying wow that was a retarded plot lol. And Valkrie which looked amazing in the trailers was pretty boring too, but it was a good film even though it was all talking. The thing that sucked is that you already knew how it was going to end ya know. Usual Suspects was good story wise for sure and his film to date. But he has more mediocre ones than great ones so I think you're giving him too much credit.

Now, that's good. Bryan Singer should return but that is a fanboy dream. I had no official problem with Gavin, except that he had never read an issue in his life, that disturbs me dearly because the idea of a person helming a project based on a comic book especially needs to understand the material greatly, like Sam did with the Spider-man series or just as Snyder with Watchmen. Understanding is an important factor. But i should admit for a guy who never had seen a panel of the comic in his life he did an alright job. I think i should give Gav a second chance, maybe now if he uses the forums he will know his mistakes and do a kick-ass job on Wolverine Origins: Revenge Of The Silver Samurai.

newkill, shut the f*ck up. Singer is a fantastic director, you couldn't do a single thing he has accomplished. The Usual Suspects is a masterpiece so hopefully this will be a better film than the first. i hope Singer returns, that would ensure this to be a good film.
