Christopher Lee Up for Returning as Saruman in The Hobbit
"I'd be interested in seeing how that transition from good to evil occurred and, yes, of course I would return to the role if I was asked," Lee told the site.
While the character Saruman does not appear in the original The Hobbit novel by J.R.R. Tolkein, the book will be spread out over two films and new material may very well be incorporated.
We'll keep you updated on this interesting item as well as other The Hobbit news. The first film is scheduled to start production in 2009, with a December 2011 release date, with the sequel to follow in December 2012.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters December 14th, 2012 and stars Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.
The Hobbit: There and Back Again comes to theaters December 13th, 2013 and stars Ron Perlman, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Doug Jones, Kiran Shah, Billy Connolly.
