Christian Bale was possibly set to play Superman?
Petersen said that the role of Superman was down to just Bale and one other actor, Josh Hartnett, and Petersen said the film almost went forward.
"It was pretty close," said Petersen. "And then the studio got a single Superman script I think from J.J. Abrams at that time, and [Warner Bros. chief] Alan Horn was so torn - because it's such a fascinating concept to do a Batman versus Superman film. And I still think it would be to do that. But the studio decided to try separate version of Superman and Batman, and then maybe think about down the road if you want to bring them together in one film."
Both Petersen's film and the Abrams Superman project fell through and the studio ended up moving forward with Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins in 2005, which lead to the mega-blockbuster 2008 sequel The Dark Knight as well as Bryan Singer's 2006 film Superman Returns.
It was said that one of the factors that shut down Petersen's film was that the studio had just greenlit his Green war epic, Troy.
The Dark Knight was released July 18th, 2008 and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Monique Gabriela Curnen. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Oh I get you, you what I wished they maid him more creepier and scary scarecrow-ish, I know they can't have all of them in big roles but they can at least give a little more, but I see what Nolan is doing he making as realistic as possible

My personal for any probable Batman project would go to Cillian Murphy as they originally intended for Batman Begins. Lots of work needed first to change that pencilneck frame ...

Escapsist your right about Will Smith as Neo and that would mean Val Kilmore as Morpheus, both bad choice but Keanu Reeves wasn't the best choice either, he can't act and his fighting looks choreographed and slow but it to image someone else but thats not a good thing

It could go either way, I would prefer Josh to play Superman. Bale's just load, a perfect fit for Bruce Wayne. He can't have it two ways, Bale vs. Bale is just as gay as Toby vs Toby, the old Spiderman.

Batman Vs Superman was fun in the comic. i don't think it would work well on film.
As for the title, they are just having some fun. i'm sure BALE had a choice, and i'm so glad he picked bruce wayne. Getting offered BATMAN is like getting offered JAMES BOND...ONE TURNS THAT DOWN!
Bale will just do the next sequel to TDK and call hang up the cape & cowl.

Batman wouldn't be as iconic as it was without Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and Batman, like I said 2 years ago he is the best batman and Bruce Wayne, on a side note he is the best John Conner, I don't see what was wrong with that movie other then the lack of dialogue, but back to what I was saying him as superman would have hurt him not helped, superman sucks anyways, as dose his villains

Could be it Doesn't matter much that the Bats v/s Supes flick as such ,never got made, at least from Petersen's POV...Read somewhere (Empire?) that he'd somehow accomplished what he wanted through Troy by pitting the very human Eric Bana against the almighty Achilles...kinda greek mythos Batman versus Superman when you think about it. KINDA.
