Christian Bale wanted for Darren Aronofsky's Noah
The director is hoping to sign Christian Bale to the $130 apocalyptic thriller about a man filling a boat with two of every species before an earth destroying flood wipes out mankind, to lure in a financer for this epic undertaking.
Noah is currently set up at the 20th Century Fox-based New Regency, but the movie's massive budget means that another studio needs to jump in and handle some of the production costs. Having Christian Bale committed to Noah will add that extra incentive to get a partner involved.
Paramount, Summit, and 20th Century Fox are all currently interested in co-financing the project with New Regency. There is no set production start date being eyed at this time.
Noah comes to theaters March 28th, 2014 and stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Durand. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky.

So will this be the story of a megalomaniac deity who kills millions of people, because they don't worship him in the way he feels entitled?

Smart financial move. Not only will Bale bring in a possible financier, but he'd also secure a decent chunk of audiences who previously were unaware or uninterested in this project. Hope this goes through, for Aronofsky's sake.

Remember something guys. This isn't based on the Bible, but rather the graphic novel that came out a few years ago. That's not to say it will be blasphemous, but you may want to think of this as a more sophisticated 300.

@themime: I read that prophesy too. Along with: "If your ark begins to sink, Bale: that is your best option."

@zanyzap As a proud Christian man, I was moved by his performance. Even though he was going through the motions with a story most of us are intimately familiar with, he did it with conviction and heart. I liked the playfulness he had with Mary in a flashback, showing his more human side, and of course the last supper speech. I believed and felt for him when he had his moment of doubt on the cross near the end. And when he was resurrected, he had the resolution on his face of someone with a higher calling, being very fitting, of course. Gibson got a lot out of him.

@dan1: Agreed. JC (not Jesus Christ, but the dude who played him) is a very underrated actor, but that's probably because other than the Passion, his other movies have not been anything special. His acting was phenomenal. I'm still pissed that the Passion didn't receive any big nominations. Best Picture? Best Director? Um... old f*cks, Best Actor? At least Jim got an MTV movie award. :P
I support Bale in just about any movie and will happily watch him in just about any movie; well, I probably wouldn't watch him in a gay porno, but whatever.

@thedude-abides The whole brutal torture was what I loved about the Passion. I said "Cool" during that scene in my religion class. Lets just say my friends thought I was an insensitive prick

@thedude-abides Life WAS brutal back then. Though the extra squishy noises when the nails were being driven into Caviezal's hands was a bit much lol, I didn't think it was excessive. Prob right on point.

@dan1 I think that's why people are going to be skeptical of this. It's the way Aronofsky is going to be interpreting the story that's going to send people into an uproar. But, then again, even Gibson's accurate approach didn't please none too many either.
