Christian Bale Says That His Batman Won't Ever Team Up with Robin

When someone says 'Batman' people almost immediately think of his teen sidekick, Robin. However, according to WENN Christian Bale wants his version of the Dark Knight, as seen in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight to remain without a sidekick.

Bale has gone on record as saying that he hopes that Robin is kept out of future Batman movies, because once the Boy-Wonder shows up, he'll be done. "If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I'll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work."

Robin may not be seen on the big screen again anytime soon, but you can see Batman again when The Dark Knight hits theatres July 18, 2008.

The Dark Knight was released July 18th, 2008 and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Monique Gabriela Curnen. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Yes well this makes sense. If you read the first few years of Batman's early career you will find characters like Scarecrow, Carmine Falcone, Salvatore Maroni, Harvey Dent/ Two-Face, The Joker, Ra's al Ghul, Henri Ducard and others. Especially taking in consideration reading Year One, Man Who Laughs, Long Halloween, and Dark Victory back-to-back. Case in point with the movies: Gordon is still a lieutenant, and hasn't even been christened as Commissioner of the city yet. So right there we know it is still at a way early point in Batman's career. If BB was Year One, TDK is Year 2-3. I know that Two-Face is setup in TDK to transition into a #3, and Robin is introduced in Dark Victory, but Bruce/Batman has got to get over his internal struggle first and clean up the crime bosses off the streets of Gotham before they could think about introducing Dick Grayson. He comes at a later point, like in a movie #4, being the last one, or a last one being #5, where he turns into Nightwing and Gordon's adopted daughter Barbara becomes Batgirl (not some silly story about Alfred's niece or whatever - sorry, B&R totally blew).

All u guys can say to bash robin is that "he's gay." Wow, ur all a bright bunch. At least i gave reasons for why he's an important aspect in batman's history, even if i don't want to see him in this series. But, just for the record, robin's far from "gay." With that logic, Bucky is gay.

I jus think Robin should never be in the new Batman Franchise. I think he'd destory the darkness in Begins and Dark Knight.

I think the robin storyline could work if robin starts

as a small boy adopted by batman an trained. then

becoming nightwing and done as a spinoff to batman movies.

  24. Mieko_Siede

I don't blame Christian Bale. Robin doesn't fit in the tone of these movies. This Bruce Wayne is not equipped to play anyone's foster parent, nor is does this Batman seem patient enough to have an understudy. I could see him getting older and training someone to take his place.

I don't want to see robin in this series just like the next guy, but i think u guys r missing how important robin is to batman history. U have to remember, when robin was created, batman wasn't this dark avenger that we all know today. He was dressed in gray tights, and blue cape; he didn't necessarily scream "dark vigilante." If anything, he was more comical than vigilant in his golden age tactics of crimefighting.

Also, it makes sense for batman to have a sidekick in the comics. Batman's parents were murdered, and he vowed to never let that happen to neone again. BUT, then dick grayson's parents were killed. Logically, batman feels it's his duty to train robin in avenging his parents deaths in the same way he trained himself. A perfect interpretation of this is Frank Miller's "All Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder" which delves perfectly into Batman's mentality for wanting a sidekick, not to mention the interactions between the 2 r hilarious; "I'm the goddamn batman." ha IF robin ever came to the big screen again alongside batman, this would be the book to adapt. If he doesn't, there's a teen titans movie under way, neways

  30. TheJoker4492

Robin never really fit the BAtman bill, here's this man who has been emotionally scarred by the death of his parents and feels the need to avenge them by dressing up as a bat and waging a one man war against the crime in the most corrupt city ever...and he has a teenaged boy in short shorts named after a bird to help him? WTF?
