Chris Rock Set for Death at a Funeral Remake

Chris Rock is taking on a 2007 dark comedy remake for his next project. According to Variety, Rock is set to star and co-write a remake of Frank Oz's film Death at a Funeral.

Rock is co-writing the script with Aeysha Carr and the project is currently seeking a director. Production is planned to start on the remake next spring.

Death at a Funeral was released August 17th, 2007 and stars Matthew Macfadyen, Keeley Hawes, Andy Nyman, Ewen Bremner, Daisy Donovan, Alan Tudyk, Jane Asher, Kris Marshall. The film is directed by Frank Oz.

I can't believe this is happening. 2 bad news of remakes in the course of 24 hours. There isn't only a financial crisis in the US right now, there's also a creativity crisis.

They should leave this film alone. It was one of the funniest film of 2007. Chris Rock will spoil it and people should get used to the original one first before they do anything about a remake.

y, just y?!?! there is no need at all to remake a movie that is only a year old and that was an awesome movie already. i could maybe understand if it was ten years down the road and it didn't already come out in theaters in the US, but this just seems like Chris Rock is stealing a funny british idea. anger, pure anger.

Agreed on the way-too-early front, Celluloid, but I thought this flick rocked!:) Besides the fact that it is way too early.... it's CHRIS ROCK! Ugh.

Well, I saw 'Death at a Funeral' directed by Frank Oz, & I didn't think much of it then, & now a remake of a film that I didn't care for doesn't sound all that thriling!

How can U re-make a film that came out in 2007!???!
