According to The Hollywood Reporter Chris Cooper and Reeve Carney are joining the cast of The Tempest. The film is directed by Julie Taymor and is an adaptation of the Shakespeare play.

The film is a big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest that, in a gender-defying twist! - Although the play centers on Prospero, an exiled duke-turned-sorcerer, the lead character has been rechristened Prospera.

Cooper will play the role of Antonio. Carney will be Ferdinand.

This film is set to start shooting in Hawaii next week.

The Tempest was released December 10th, 2010 and stars Helen Mirren, Chris Cooper, Alfred Molina, Alan Cumming, Djimon Hounsou, Russell Brand, Ben Whishaw, David Strathairn. The film is directed by Julie Taymor.
