Chloe Moretz Eyes The Rut

Chloe Moretz joins The Rut
In a story from The Los Angeles Times, Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) is presently in talks to join the cast of Karyn Kusama's (Jennifer's Body) The Rut.

The Rut follows a father-daughter relationship and focuses on hunting. A daughter has to utilize the tricks of hunting and archery, that were taught to her by her father, after he goes missing.

Moretz, should she join the project, would play the daughter.

Considering the chops Moretz showed handling multiple guns in Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, this project appears to be quite suited for her.

Agreed, @The Fallen. Typecasting can kill careers. Look at Jim Carry when he tried to do something serious. Not taken so well. Just like serious roles doing comedy doesn't take so well with audiences in general. I like seeing actors branch out of their norm.

I agree with @ejk. She needs to stick way from hardcore action films. She needs to be an across the board player. Everything but Horror and Comedy. When I say Horror, I mean the really teenage like films, and franchises. Let Me In seems to be going more the thriller route anyways. And as for Comedy, I mean easily made ones. (500) Days of summer was a great movie, and those types of flicks are good to star in. She needs dramas, thrillers, coming f age, and hell, even some noir films. She's got it made.

Well.I am in agreement with you(all of you)
She's pretty talented and I doubt she'll be just some passing star.i mean look at the roles she's already got coming up,she's gonna be quite busy in the next year or two.As for branching out.Yes she should. She's gonna big.

I have a feeling she won't have a shortage of scripts (of all kinds) coming her way. She has a bright future for sure.

Don't believe there is any danger of that, not in her case. The one thing I do think she needs to avoid though is not being known strictly for being a smartass who only says vulgar things for a laugh. It has a certain charm and comedy because of her young age, but that shtick will wear thin as she gets older, and a more sincere attitude in later roles will be appreciated.

Yeah, I just don't want her to be typecast. Kick-Ass showed she can do action, but now she should branch out. The action will be there for her for many years to come.

While I partly agree with you, ejk1, consider that she's also got Let Me In in the pipeline as well. She's keeping up her dramatic roles on top of action. She needs a couple more dramedies under her belt like 500 Days of Summer, and she can be free to do whatever the hell she wants.

She's definitely the next big thing in Hollywood right now, getting snatched up for role after role. Exciting stuff.

Honestly, I think she should stay away from this role. Being typecast at her age probably wouldn't be good for her career in the long run. For now, she should look for roles that will demonstrate her acting abilities, leaving the Kick-Ass sequel(or sequels) as her only action role.
