Cheryl Hines has signed on to join Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler in the upcoming romantic comedy The Ugly Truth. According to Variety, 21 director Robert Luketic is set to direct a script written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kristen Smith. The three were responsible for Legally Blonde.

The plot follows a romantically challenged morning show producer that gets caught up in her chauvinistic correspondent's outrageous theories about love and relationships. Hines is set to play the morning show's co-anchor.

The film is scheduled to begin filming next month.

The Ugly Truth was released July 24th, 2009 and stars Katherine Heigl, Gerard Butler, Bree Turner, Eric Winter, Nick Searcy, Jesse D. Goins, Cheryl Hines, John Michael Higgins. The film is directed by Robert Luketic.
