Cheryl Hines Captures Some Serious Moonlight

Adrienne Shelly, who was murdered in New York last year, left behind a screenplay entitled Serious Moonlight. According to Variety, Cheryl Hines, who started in Shelly's last film Waitress, will make her directorial debut with the piece.

The film is a dark comedy about a troubled marriage. It follows a high-powered attorney who learns that her husband is about to leave her for another woman. She prevents him from doing so by trapping him in the bathroom and binding him with duct tape.

Hines stated, "I feel a great sense of pride to be directing this film. I had such respect for Adrienne and the work she did. And I love her writing so much. That tone is really in my wheelhouse."

Casting is currently underway. The film will go into production starting this December.
