Charlize Theron is in talks to star with Tom Cruise in The Tourist, director Bharat Nalluri's remake of the 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer.

According to Variety, the Julian Fellowes-scripted drama centers on a female Interpol agent who uses an American tourist in an attempt to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair.

The script is currently getting a polish by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the upcoming Cruise starrer Valkyrie for United Artists.

Production is expected to begin by March.

The Tourist was released December 10th, 2010 and stars Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Rufus Sewell, Clément Sibony, Timothy Dalton, Julien Baumgartner, Bruno Wolkowitch, François Vincentelli. The film is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
