Charlize Theron to Star in Mad Max 4?
Sadly, it doesn't look like Mel Gibson will have anything to do with this project.
Back in 2007, Miller had this to say about Gibson's involvement in the film, "I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all."
It seems that the director wants Tom Hardy (Black Hawk Down) to co-star with Theron.
Lastly, Miller is also being "very secretive about the roles and plot." The talent auditioning "for the film have only been given a letter for their character's name. The studio has yet to sign off on Miller's choices, and no formal offers have been made."
At present, all of the above information is just rumors.

i am suprised they are not just "rebooting" "remaking" or "reimagining" mad max. suprising they even want to do a sequel especially without mel on board and the time that has passed since the last one. you would think they would want to capture those who are not familiar with it, and those who are. good luck to them.

Fallen, I don't know if I like the hole son idea, its just too hokey, and it didn't work all that well Indiana Jones 4. I'll be looking forward to see what they do with it.
I agree with you on the Charlize Theron part, whats with that? and is that her new thing now, post apocalyptic movies?

Tom Hardy is a good actor and can pull off Max. I think a bunch of people on here are posers and didn't know about Mad Max until they saw it on the 8.99 bin at Walmart. I mean if you were really a Mad Max fan then you would be open. I mean I love Mel. One of my fave actors. And I want him back as much as you guys but he isn't coming back. The studio wants to cash money on the franchise though, so stop moping and start paying they cast a worthy replacement. this is happening, and at least George miller is still with it.
I rather liked the rumor of Jeremy Renner being talked about. He can pull off a younger Mad Max, or preferable a son, because they shouldn't have to recast Mel. With a son it makes it logical .I mean he bedded some woman on one of his travels, had a son, grew up with his fathers characteristics. I mean, hey, a guy can dream.
Also, no one has yet commented on Charlize Theron? I mean whats the title folks? Jeez.

Well thats closed minded. I mean Mel makes this series, but a prequel is still possible. I mean I WANT Mel. After seeing the Edge of Darkness trailer I know he's still got it. But if they get another great actor that is similar to his possible younger self, and the stories there (and the same director) then I will stiff out my money to see it Midnite, weather it sucks or not. Why? Because this is one of the few cases in which I am a "fan" and nothing more. :)
