Charlize Theron is circling a role in the upcoming adaptation Dark Places. We reported in May that Amy Adams was in talks to star, although negotiations broke down and the producers are now interested in Charlize Theron instead.
Charlize Theron to Replace Amy Adaps in Dark Places
The story is based on the Gillian Flynn novel, which centers on a young woman who survived the massacre of her entire family when she was just seven years old, testifying in court that her brother was the killer. 25 years later, the woman is sought by The Kill Club, a secret society that is obsessed with notorious crimes, to determine what really happened that fateful night.
Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah's Key) is directing from his own adapted screenplay, with Stéphane Marsil producing. No production schedule was revealed.
Gillian Flynn also has the adaptation Gone Girl, based on her novel, set up at 20th Century Fox. We reported last month that David Fincher is in talks to direct that drama.
Dark Places comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Charlize Theron, Chloe Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan, Sterling Jerins, Shannon Kook-Chun. The film is directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner.
