Charlize Theron has signed on to star in and produce Ladies Night for Skydance Productions, with Fred Savage in talks to direct.

Happy Endings creator David Caspe wrote the screenplay, which was developed at Charlize Theron's Denver & Delilah company, along with Beth Kono and A.J. Dix. The story centers on a woman (Charlize Theron) who decides to start a new life in New York City, largely due to her boyfriend's inability to commit to the relationship. She has one final night out on the town with her girlfriends before making the big move.

David Ellison is producing through his Skydance Films production company, which is also providing the financing. A distributor has not been attached yet, although production is tentatively slated to begin in early 2014.

Fred Savage, who became a child star for playing Kevin Arnold in The Wonder Years, made his feature directorial debut in 2007 with Daddy Day Camp. Although Fred Savage hasn't made a feature since then, he is one of the most in-demand TV directors around, directing episodes of shows such as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Party Down, Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, and David Caspe's Happy Endings, just to name a few.

Ladies Night comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Charlize Theron. The film is directed by Fred Savage.
