Charlize Theron Set for Florence of Arabia

Charlize Theron's Denver and Delilah Films has picked up screen rights to Christopher Buckley's satirical novel Florence of Arabia, according to Variety. Theron is developing the feature as a star vehicle.

The film will be written by Dean Craig.

Florence of Arabia is about a State Dept. employee (to be played by Theron) who, after watching her friend marry the prince of a Middle East country and subsequently get executed, fights for equal rights for the women of that country.

Theron will produce through Denver and Delilah. The Johnson-Roessler Co. will be exec producer.

No production date has been set.

    Well Raoul, I was thinking the same thing. LOA was brilliant, but I think a remake is appropriate within the next 5 years. I mean it's such a great story and it needs to live on. Besides its been a while.

    If they were to remake it, then I would say Ridley Scott, or maybe Robert Deniro as director. As for Lawrence I would hands down, cast either John Rhys Davies, or Mathew Goode.

    As for this movie... sounds to close to Lawence of Arabia, and the story sounds weird.
