Channing Tatum joins the list of possible stars
If this is true, the actor now joins Ryan Phillippe, Chris Evans, Mike Vogel, Garrett Hedlund, and Wilson Bethel as actors that are in the running for this movie.
In addition to this bit of casting talk, Marvel Studios is testing leads for the female role of Peggy. The studio wants an American actor to play Captain America, but they are presently looking at British actresses Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Emily Blunt.
Apparently, Blunt is who the studio is leaning towards.
Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the 'Super-Soldier Serum' and bombarded by 'vita-rays.'
Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers.

Captain America: The First Avenger was released July 22nd, 2011 and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Dominic Cooper, Richard Armitage, Stanley Tucci. The film is directed by Joe Johnston.

Tatum has zero screen presence. Evans is annoying. Go with Hedlund or Phillipe. They're both solid actors who have the right look.

wow.this is probably the worst bit of casting 'news' i've heard in a long time. seriously, this guy CANNOT act. he has one expression and one emotion and they both revolve around 'DUH'. and thats as far as he goes. how this loser keeps getting roles is beyond me. but one sure way to ruin this movie and ensure that it will suck would be to hire this tool. damn, i WAS looking forward to this movie. not so much anymore. plus it brings down the avengers movie just that much. please dont cast this douchebag. please god, please!!!

I've always found that a certain number of actors who do well or are excellent use facial expressions to show how good they are at their craft. Though a number of actors don't do that at all, but get by without an award of any type.
I don't look down at them, I admire their courage for what they have to go through, getting rejected or getting the part of their lifetime.
For this person for this part, no way what so ever. Channing needs to take a few more acting lessons before he takes on any more parts.

I don't like Tatum. I liked G.I. Joe, and I don't mind his performance, it means: he doesn't ruin the film for me. But Tatum for Captain America? NO WAY!! I mean it. It is not a good idea. But I can imagine that with Chris Pine or Michael Fassbender. Or Brad Pitt.

He wasn't THAT bad in GI Joe, and was quite good in Fighting, but he's just not fit for this role (neither are any of the others). I think they should cast Chris Pine, he's got the looks and skills to pull it off.
