CBS Reboots Bewitched

CBS reboots Bewitched
Though 2005's big screen adaptation of Bewitched was a flop at the box office, CBS is turning to the husband and wife team of Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher, responsible for the reboot on that film, to bring the franchise back to television.

Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher will executive produce this third iteration of the property, bringing Bewitched back to the small screen. Sony Pictures Television has ordered a pilot script, which will be penned by Marc Lawrence (Did You Hear About the Morgans?), also an executive producer.

It is not known what sort of shape this new version of Bewitched will take. The original featured a mortal man marrying into a family of witches, while the 2005 movie starred Nicole Kidman as a real-life witch asked to star in a reboot of the series.

Bewitched is just one of many scripts that Sony has bought early in this development season. If Bewitched moves forward, we won't see it until 2013 or 2014 at the earliest.

Bewitched was released June 24th, 2005 and stars Nicole Kidman, Will Ferrell, Shirley MacLaine, Michael Caine, Jason Schwartzman, Kristin Chenoweth, Heather Burns, Jim Turner. The film is directed by Nora Ephron.

though i'm usually very anti reboots, i kind of like this idea. a few necessities though:
    1. keep it clean (the original was family friendly, this one should be too; tongue-in-cheek husband/wife humor, general witchcraft mishaps - though stay away from the "dark arts", etc.)
    2. keep it witty (no overacting, shallow scripts or empty storylines... while no one could ever redo the Cosby show, it should have that sort of family humor, story and dynamic). stay away from the Desperate Housewives approach.
    3. as much as it pains me to say this, modernize it. if they keep it set in 50's/60's it will only seem like a carbon copy. plus, there is much that can be done in a modern setting with the same family dynamic.
    4. recruit Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother writers! lol

F*ck no. Elizabeth Montgomery is the ONLY Samantha Stevens that I will accept. No substandard substitutions.

Just because we all miss the old days doesn't mean that any of these remakes are necessary. Did you guys know they're remaking Dirty Dancing!?
