Casino Royale Grosses $44 Million Overseas This Past Weekend

Casino Royale crushed the international box office, according to Variety, by generating $44.7 million at 6,770 theatres in 54 overseas markets for this past weekend. The film has now cashed in $196.5 million internationally and $312.4 million worldwide.

Thanks to impressive European holdovers, Casino Royale took in more than the combined grosses of the next four Hollywood movies -- Flushed Away, The Departed, Borat and Happy Feet.

With openings next weekend in Australia and Mexico plus a track record of respectable staying power, Casino Royale looks likely to top the worldwide Bond film record of $431 million set by Die Another Day.

Casino Royale was released November 17th, 2006 and stars Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright, Giancarlo Giannini, Caterina Murino, Simon Abkarian. The film is directed by Martin Campbell.
