Casey Affleck has signed on to star in the period noir drama The Kind One, based on the novel by Tom Epperson. According to Variety, the project will reunite Affleck with Gone Baby Gone producer Sean Bailey, who is producing the film through his new Disney-based Idealogy production banner.

The Kind One is a story set in 1930s Los Angeles. It centers on an amnesiac (Affleck) who finds himself working for a mobster; a twisted killer given the nickname "the Kind One". Affleck's character falls in love with the sadistic thug's girlfriend.

Epperson will be adapting his own novel once the writers' strike is over.

Gone Baby Gone was released October 19th, 2007 and stars Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, John Ashton, Amy Ryan, Amy Madigan, Titus Welliver. The film is directed by Ben Affleck.
