Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry The Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater's action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
Cars 2 was released June 24th, 2011 and stars Larry The Cable Guy, Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Eddie Izzard, John Turturro, Brent Musburger, Joe Mantegna. The film is directed by John Lasseter, Brad Lewis.

@Worth5Bucks - I cannot agree with you more! Of course, that was the same year An Inconvenient Truth came out. The "go green" mentality of those Oscars was more stifling than the air quality of downtown LA! :P

@Titanicom What....?? Nemo gave Pixar its first Oscar, Cars won nothing, and rightfully so.

I didn't catch this, but, @Titanictom - Cars did NOT win an Oscar. It lost to Happy Feet.
I would not claim people to "not know what they're talking about" with such an oversight :P

Why am I looking at a Cars 2 poster, when instead I should be looking at a Incredibles 2 poster?

Gotcha. Now, add mistaken identity and international espionage to that, @Moviegeek :P

Well... I hate Cars compared to other Pixar works, though I just dislike it in a more general cinematic sense. I didn't pick up on any morals while watching it. All I did was listen to country stars obnoxiously voice flaccid characters supported by a weak excuse of a plot to simply further an obviously deliberate attempt to generate merchandising. No heart, no tenderness. It was all forceful and loud.

I'm not so sure about that, @moviegeek - I mean, Cars was about overcoming egotism and coming to an understanding of what really matters: a sense of home, relationships, and community. For that, I commend Cars. Bug's Life is actually my least favorite. However, they're trading that message for a generic plot of mistaken identity and international espionage? That's even more hard to swallow than talking cars where people don't exist :P

@Narzion actually pixar has disappointed: with Cars 1. That is why people aren't thrilled about the sequel. You don't have to hate pixar to have low expectations for this one
