Carlos Mencia to Bring Beaner Man to the Big Screen!
Carlos Mencia: Black people are a part of American culture. When they make movies with multiple cast members, and I'll use X-Men as an example, if there wasn't a black person in that film, someone in a production meeting would say, "You know we need to put an African-American in there. We can't have a bunch of white people running around with special powers." Yet, if you look at X-Men, you'll see that there are blacks, whites, Asians, middle easterns, others. There's not one Mexican X-Man. And so that makes me understand that whoever made that movie doesn't deem it necessary to put one guy like me in it, because they don't feel that I am an integrate part of America. They don't feel it needs to be reflected in this movie. I go, "Okay, I see that. I get it."
Have you thought about creating your own superhero?
Carlos Mencia: I did.
On your show, but I mean in an actual movie?
Carlos Mencia: We might actually do it into a movie. Wink, wink, it was called Beaner Man. The point of that was that we don't have any superheroes. So I created a superhero called Beaner Man, and Mario Lopez played my archenemy, and his name was Dirty Sanchez. We did this whole thing, and it was awesome, man. I might actually turn that character into something real. But it came from me going, "Wait a minute. Where is my superhero? Where's the superhero for little kids that are like me?" We called him Beaner Man, because that's funny. But I see the need for it. But, yeah, man. That is something that I have put a lot of consideration into. That is something that I am seriously gearing up to do. I have done it on the TV show, and now I have people in the movie industry who are going, "We should actually do that up as a movie." I am going to write that up. It might be fun.
Carlos' latest film The Heartbreak Kid opens this Friday on October 5th, 2007.
