Carla Gugino to Star in Race to Witch Mountain

Carla Gugino is set to star opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in Race to Witch Mountain, Disney's reimagining of its 1975 pre-teen thriller Escape to Witch Mountain. Actor-director Garry Marshall also will star.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in Andy Fickman's feature, Gugino will play a discredited astrophysicist and UFO expert who meets up with a Las Vegas cab driver (Johnson). He asks for her extraterrestrial expertise to help a pair of psychic siblings escape the clutches of evil men and save the human race from impending doom.

Marshall plays a government and UFO conspiracy theorist/fringe scientist who helps them in their quest. Alexander Ludwig and AnnaSophia Robb play the siblings.

Production will start this month in Los Angeles.

Race to Witch Mountain was released March 13th, 2009 and stars Dwayne Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Alexander Ludwig, Carla Gugino, Ciarán Hinds, Tom Everett Scott, Chris Marquette, Billy Brown. The film is directed by Andy Fickman.

    You could film this woman standing calf deep in a mud puddle for two hours and I'd still spend my entire paycheck(which by the way boss, aint much) to sit in the theater, prop my feet up and enjoy a box of Goobers whilst I enjoy a brilliant casting and a fine film.
