The site is reporting that 20th Century Fox is reluctant to greenlight the film with Rinsch, primarily a TV commercial director, at the helm and wants to have director Ridley Scott at the helm. Rinsch has worked for Scott's company, RSA, for years now and the site also claims that Rinsch not only works for Scott's company, but is romantically involved with his daughter, Jordan.
Neither Scott nor Rinsch responded to the site's inital report.
Alien was released May 25th, 1979 and stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto, Bolaji Badejo. The film is directed by Ridley Scott.

No reboot. There would be nobody who could play Ripley.
JA,
Ridley Scott(science fiction/horror film) & James Cameron(science fiction/action film) that would be a good combination. Have James direct and Ridley produce.

You can do all three, a prequal, a reboot, and a 5th film in one. With the end of the 5th film, have the weird alien that crashed on the planet from the original shown being taken by the alien, and crashing, thats your prequal, and reboot in one ending sequance. All you have to do, is come up with a human interaction cover-uped by military control, that gets the cargo ship from one to go there years later.. for specimens taken from the remains.

LMAO Newkill
Nathan, James Cameron already has his projects properly lined up
If Avatar is a success, he states there will be another 2 installments and then he has Battle Angel Alita.
Which damn i want Battle Angel Alita, its such an awesome manga, right up Cameron's alley.
But Ridley Scott & James Cameron should callaborate for a 5th installment, or a sci-fi film, now that would be awesome.

As much as i would love to see Ridley Scott do this, i doubt he'll want any piece of it. If he would though, you know Russell Crowe would be in it.

If they do 5. Then they should let James Cameron direct it.

Well, duh. I should hope 20th Century Fox would question putting a TV commercial director on such a high profile project, when they might have a shot at convincing the actual guy (Scott) that started the Alien phenomenon to direct. I would love to see Ridley Scott revisit the Alien franchise.

Did Fox do 'Star Wars Episode 1: Phantom Menance?'
LMAO, i never realised that at all, meh best thing about episode 1 was Darth Maul.....oh and Duel Of The Fates.
The history of the Aliens is outline briefly through out the comics.
But i'm definately down for a war on Earth involving the colonial marines, as for this was the actual original propsed idea for Aliens 5, the was on the net somewhere under the title 'Aliens: Invasion aka Aliens 5'

The Kwisatz Haderach
a prequel?! Ah Hans run its the Lurgoif! God thats dumb bring me another installment, like Ottley said. Somewhere on the net is this outline of the Aliens universe history, somewhere in it is a war on earth with aliens running around. Hell I'd be down to see somemore colonial marines. But not a prequel.

Yeah, your right Ottley. Fox hasn't been the top movie studio since '99 with Phantom Menace, which was a disappointment.

Ok was the romantically involved part actually nesscerary to this article?
This franchise doesn't need a prequel...period, its works perfectly the way it is.
But if Ridley does get the helm, i doubt this will ever happen, a lot of directors, producers and screenwriters these days are saying they are doing this and that, but not sticking to it.
I think just because Fox lately has been doing a round after round of sh*t movies, they are trying to revive their old classics.
Scrap a prequel....Scrap a Remake.....Fox bring me a 5th installment.
And i'll be a happy bunny.
Where would the 5th installment be set though?
Earth or Space.....

Despite what I said before about not needing this movie whatsoever....If they're going to do this, and Ridley Scott is at the helm, ONLY THEN would I be curious about an "Alien" prequel.

Err
i like the fox's thinking here.
if anyone can save the series its ridley.
