Peter Dinklage to take on MODOK in Captain America 2?
It certainly isn't a conventional choice, though MODOK is an original villain of Steve Rogers from the 60s era comic books. This is what Christopher Markus had to say about the character and why he wants MODOK in the movie.
"I love MODOK and I think you could make a terrifying movie with MODOK but nobody seems to be on my side at the moment. I will win you over to Peter Dinklage as MODOK. If he came around the corner and you saw him floating there you would be terrified. It would be amazing. (They) really pulled off the Red Skull. It doesn't look like a mask. It looks like it's fully integrated into his flesh. And I want to see what they can do with MODOK."
In other Steve Rogers related new, The Avengers director Joss Whedon has revealed that he will open that ensemble superhero film with an old newsreel from the 40s featuring actress Joan Leslie as Steve Roger's girlfriend of the time. The director will digitally recreate the departed actress using footage from the film This is the Army.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters April 4th, 2014 and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Robert Redford, Frank Grillo. The film is directed by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo.
Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

:L sorry but no- seriously though he small and the idea is to have the genisis of evil and power be thrown upon him by the abnormal energised will he has it still wont be a serious villian that you will actually feel threatened by- a good very in your face stand your ground for the small guys idea but logically its an awful idea nice thought- but i aint gunnah appen
but what if it does?: then CA: 2 will be f*cked

@andrew-thompson No, MODOK is the big head in a floating chair. Arnim Zola is the guy with his face on a TV screen on his chest. Keep it straight! ;) That's why they introduced Zola with his face enlarged by the magnifying glass as a little nod to what he becomes.

thought the actor playing arnim zola was going to end up as MODOK so does that mean they will also introduce A.I.M. ? that would be very cool yes bring on MODOK maybe even Baron Zemo!

@shuabert Ant Man and Doctor Strange would certainly be thinking outside the box. Marvel would be wise to go down that path instead of more sequels summer 2014. There is no need to rush things when this is their time to build their universe properly. Anyways, I believe you and I see eye to eye on this perfectly, let's just hope Marvel/Disney feels likewise. Slow but expansive burn FTW.

@dan1 Well there are those two mystery movies that Marvel slated for 2014, and they still haven't announced what they are. It's not Thor 2 or Iron Man 3, because those are already planned for 2013, so that really only leaves Cap 2, Avengers 2, or some new property that they haven't already established. Cap 2 seems like a given, but I hope they leave more than 2 years between the Avengers and its sequel or it's going to seem rushed (there have been three years between all of Nolan's Batman movies, which has felt to me like the perfect amount of space). I'm hoping that second slot is the Ant-Man movie (though they've been talking about a Dr. Strange adaptation for a while too).

@shuabert Agreed. After Avengers, there will be a solid gap of time before the next one, and that would be the prime opportunity to get them off the ground and familiar in people's minds. I just love the back and forth between those two actors, and would love to see them reunited.

@dan1 That would actually be pretty sweet. I never thought of those two for the roles. A few years ago I suggested Sam Worthington and Rachael McAdams, but those are roles that a lot of actors could fill nicely.
I still think it could be awesome if those two are introduced into the Marvel cinema universe via the Edgar Wright Ant-Man movie that's currently in limbo, because it would give time to establish those characters on their own and really create a fun action-romance superhero movie. If they go that route, I wonder if Simon Pegg would end up as Pym. That could be interesting.

@shuabert Of course what I REALLY want to see is Nathan Fillion and Morena Baccarin play Hank and Janet Pym. They are Whedon alumni, we know they have good chemistry, and it would make up for Baccarin not getting Maria Hill.

@shuabert That would be great if they included grandma Peggy in a later film. It would certainly add more of a bittersweet tone to his story, and that extra depth couldn't hurt.

@dan1 I agree. I guess he just wants to use footage of Leslie because its taking footage of a classic movie actress and he probably think he's receive praise for doing that.

@dan1 Right. What I meant was they are never in a romantic relationship for an extended period of time (though the movie clearly builds to that). It wouldn't make sense to ever have shown Carter as his "girlfriend" given that they didn't ever go on a date, and only kissed once right before he disappeared for decades.
Here's a point, though. The Ultimate Avengers animated film (which is quite good, by the way) follows pretty closely the same arc of the Cap movie, with him being awoken in the present by Nick Fury to join the Avengers. In that movie, though, there is a scene in which Cap goes to meet an aged Peggy Carter to lament their romance that never was. Do you think they'll do this in the live action Avengers film too? Or do you think they'll just imply or state that Carter has died in the time that Cap was frozen? I personally hope it's the former because I think that story adds a lot to the character of Steve Rogers in his realization of all that he has lost in missing so much time.

Dan
@shuabert Though 'never' is slightly inaccurate. They did kiss, and the date they set up was more a melodramatic formality in the face of him believing he was going to die. At that junction of the film I'd say they were an official item. But what you said still makes sense.

TheMime
@wuzzy41123 .....The Mime can see your point.... non-fans wouldn't get it. But that is if they did a poor job making the movie. "Non-fans" they're just looking for a great show with characters that make sense for that movies "UNIVERSE". MODOK is not an easy character but taking a man and putting it on a hover chair could easily be sold to "non-fans." The really hard work here is to try and make the a movie and a story base that is appealing to the "FANS." A simple man-on-a-hover-chair won't do if the story is way off.
At least that's the way The Mime sees it.

Remember that the Cap movie skips forward in time fairly often. He could have dated someone during the time he was doing the travelling propaganda circuit and Atwell's character was actually, you know, fighting Nazis. She's never actually his girlfriend, because they just plan their first date (which doesn't happen) at the end of the movie.

Dinklage would be amazing. Picture MODOK as sort of like Balthazar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: goofy but also pretty terrifying in his power.

Wuzzy41123
I like MODOK as a character and wouldn't mind seeing him on the big screen but since people who are non-fans would watch it as well they would be better going with Baron Zemo, Baron Strucker or Arnim Zola (since his character has already been developed).

I have never been much of a MODOK fan but if they go that direction Dinklage is a great choice. However, Zemo would be a little more down to Earth and probably cheaper.

Baron Zemo should be the villain in Cap 2. The Enchantress and the Executioner should be the villain in Thor 2. The perfect setup for the Masters of Evil to be the villains in the Avengers 2 (Wonder Man's sacrifice would make for a great tragic ending).
Eventually I hope Cap or the Avengers fight the all-female Ultimate version of the Serpent Squad. Some casting suggestions: Asp (Marion Cotillard), Black Mamba (Emily Blunt), Princess Python (Tina Majorino), Anaconda (Hayden Panettiere), and Death Adder (Jena Malone).
