Anthony and Joe Russo will direct Captain America 2
Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are in final talks to direct Captain America 2 for Marvel Studios. We reported back in March the brothers were top contenders for the directorial job, along with F. Gary Gray and George Nolfi.

The Russo's only have two features under their belts, the comedies Welcome To Collinwood and You, Me and Dupree. They are best known for their work on the small screen, producing and directing episodes of Community, Happy Endings, and Arrested Development.

Captain America: The First Avenger scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote the sequel screenplay, with Kevin Feige producing for Marvel Studios. Chris Evans will be back as the title character, with Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury. No other cast members have been confirmed yet.

Production will likely commence after Marvel wraps on Thor 2 later this year.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters April 4th, 2014 and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Robert Redford, Frank Grillo. The film is directed by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo.

@zender You mean the action would be so much better than Captain America: The First Avenger? I saw nothing wrong with Captain America: The First Avenger's action.

Put Jon Favreau as the director of Captain America 2, then the action would be so much better than the first film.

@gandoff2169 Not hating, he did a really nice job story and character-wise, but the action was awfully boring, awfully directed, and awfully edited. And it's not the first time I've noticed that on his films, that just can't happen on a superhero movie.

@Joshua-Hollaway MODOK is in Aim. And Aim is going to be featured in Iron Man 3. So as I could see a tie in to lead to a Avengers 2, we all know Thanos will be the lead villain in, I have a hard time seeing him done. His look will need major CGI unless they redesign him, which would and could not go over well to comic fans. Baron Zemo is a close second the Red Skull as Captain America's top villains. So with there being more Hydra villains for Cap to fight, and with the history Cap has with Hydra, I see Hydra being heavy in Cap 2, with some villain with in it as the lead.

@felipe-11 Why the hate on Johnston? He did a great job with Captain America. Only issue with that movie, is the use of the crystal to make energy weapons during WW2. But we all not, major advances was made in weapon tech in that time, so not a far reaching idea to a point.

Captain America was a good film, but of course it wasn't the best superhero movie either, I think it focused more on setting up the story for The Avengers, but I thought it still should have more action. Anyways hope this one is better. I'm asking anyone here, what type of powers did Modok have?

Justice23 Yeah I new Modok was highly rumored, co-writer Christopher Markus suggested the villain, said some of the other creators didn't agree with him, but they say there are already shots of Ironman3 that has links to Modok's story, a company called AIM. Despite, Modok's weird and unusual look, it would be cool to see something different, I don't think no comic movie villain as looked as unique and bizarre as Modok.

i think they're a terrible choice to be at the helm of this film... this better not become another Iron Man 2, which was filled with jokes that weren't even close to being funny.

Two posibilites. One, Red Skull will be back, when Loki had the cube, he used it to free him from limbo from where he was with in the cube. Or Baron Nemo will bethe new leader of Hydra, and Cap takes on a new face in a new age. But I am also worried for the film, cause I don't think this due is up to the task for this film.

@justice23, I disagree about Joe Johnston being a period film director. He did both Jumanji and Honey I Shrunk the Kids... he's more than capable of doing an action adventure film set in the present day.
