Capcom To Develop Devil May Cry, Lost Planet and Dead Rising For Theaters
They're the company behind the Resident Evil franchise, and they're be teaming with Hyde Park Entertainment for a Street Fighter movie due in 2008 based on Chung Li, one of the most popular fighters from the game series. Now, the Japanese group will be searching for studios to develop some other franchises, says The Hollywood Reporter; Devil May Cry, Lost Planet, Dead Rising and Onimusha are among the few titles. Onimusha is in development at Davis Films.
They've hired former THQ exec Germaine Gioia to serve in the newly created post of senior vp licensing in its Los Angeles office. She will liaison with Hollywood to find properties that can work as Capcom games.
Resident Evil: Extinction hits theaters September 21, 2007; Street Fighter has a loose release in 2008.
