C. Thomas Howell confirms the Lizard
Here is what C. Thomas Howell had to say about how his character plays a part in one of The Amazing Spider-Man's most important scenes.
"There is not a whole lot to talk about. Sony wants us to be hush-hush right now. I play a relatively small role. I play a construction worker who's son is caught in the middle of a battle between the Lizard and Spider-Man on the Manhattan bridge. Spider-Man helps me get my son back from this perilous situation. There is some payback there at the end of the movie. Spider-man is kind of hurting. I help him when all of the other people won't. Part of the story is, the nation thinks he might be a bad guy. They don't know what to think. Because of my experience on the bridge with my kid, I know he is a good guy. I pitch in and help out at the end. That is the best way."
To listen to the whole podcast, which is quite funny,
The Amazing Spider-Man was released July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Campbell Scott. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

@comicbookfan The effects tech for the Sandman in the entire movie almost all had to be created.

The Birth of Sandman scene was top-notch SFX for 2007. The technology did not exist so they had to create it specifically for that scene and that film. It was state of the art then.

@Kinetic The effects, by todays standards, are cheesy at some spots, but the way the effects were used was very good. Especially when there use for big scenes like the crane scene, which is arguebly the best scene in the movie. and back then, those effects were groundbreaking as it was the only film its kind using effects to that extent at the time.
So, if you think the effects are bad, watch the scene when the sandman first emerges from the accident that made him a few times. That scene is on of the best effects scene/scene i've sver seen in a movie.
and also If you don't like Tobey and Kirsten, you must love Andrew and Emma

The FX were terrible, they show up even worse with the higher quality formats....

@Kinetic ok your just being synical. I couldnt disagree more with your assesment of the animation. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? I get it you REALLY hated Spiderman 3 and i admit the dance sequence was laughable at best but the movie did have a ton of FX shots and some of those were actually models of the buildings in the film. Although the movie was panned by critics, many agreed that the FX were good and it was nominted by many award commisions for its FX.

@skywise No, seriously, the Digital Effects gets worse with each movie... And they weren't good to begin with... Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie had BETTER CGI than all 3 Spider-Man movies.... COMBINED!!!!

@Kinetic Well, the mention of "Dr. Connors" in the first film made it apparent the possibility that he'd become the lizard in a sequel ad his physical appearance in Spider-Man 2 confirmed that and in Spider-Man 3, you examine the background during the scenes where Dr. Conners is in his lab examining the symbiote, you'll see multiple LIZARDS in jars, this is mostly to the quick scene when Conners told Peter about the symptoms of the symbiote while peter ate cookies.
So, there. HE WAS TEASED MERCILESSLY EVEN IF NOT INTENTIONALLY.

He was never really teased at becoming the Lizard in the Raimi movies... That was just expectations by all the fans... there really was no build-up or hints that he was or could be anything other than a College Science Teacher...

Took this long for something that was promised since #1. Now where the hell is the Vulture? Both Ben Kingsley and John Malkovich had costume fittings and that never happen. I hate this reboot but will give benefit of doubt as me and so many others waited for these villains. Go ahead Sony, screw this up again. overpaid headless suits.

Sounds good, but I already knew The Lizard was gonna be a major part of it, since James Vanderbilt wrote the treatment to Spider-Man 4.

@jptheredskull, Not at all. Im not saying do what Rami did. Just saying that they should introduce him in the first movie and then have the transformation begin in the 2nd. Or in the very last scene of the movie, have the transformation begin and leave a cliff hanger. Though i don't think people would be to happy about that. Do you think people want to see Peter got through High School and College again? NO.

@Fike Honestly, Do you think people want to sit through at least 2 more films to see a character that was already alluded and teased at heavily without remorse in the previous 3 films? NO.

I can not wait for this movie! I'm a little annoyed with all these people judging it so cruelly. I think this is going to be good but no one should shut it down until at least a trailer is released. I have faith....
