@mcleve02 Believe me, I understand. Not only am I getting my program together for the school season, I'm also preparing a rather lengthy move to another state--getting my daughter prepared for the year to come. So I understand swamped, believe me.

@mieko-siede I am getting them today! Sorry I have been quite swamped this weekend!!! School starts back up so I've been doing a lot of drumline clinics before I hand the kids off to be taught by their band director for the rest of the season!

@mieko-siede Good! Hard to find people who understand and don't complain about me being too picky! But I warn you, when you listen to those songs, prepare yourself to burn James Horner forever!

@mcleve02 It all fascinates me. From directors, producers, effects crews, down to the composers...I'm critical of the entire process. So I'm with you 100%.

@mieko-siede I agree with those... Don't get me wrong, his music is very exciting! But for instance how did his score even remotely fit Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? So over written... James Horner is one I can not stand... not only does he write the same thing in all his films, but he steals all over the place, and thinks just because he changed the melody up a bit, its his own... example... I challenge you to listen to the soundtrack from Braveheart and then listen to Jupiter by Gustav Holst... you will hear it immediately... Believe it or not, I even liked Cooper from Wedding Crashers...You can tell he can act, and he is alwasy choosing very different roles! I am with you all the way there... sorry I am harder on composers since its my field!

@mcleve02 Oh no, I agree. Hans Zimmer is a brilliant composer. John Williams...and though I agree with what you said, I guess it's because of his predictability--you have to have one--that I like Danny Elfman. I love to see diversity in people. Very few actors show that. There are many I could name that from film to film they are the exact same person in each one. You don't even know their character names because you feel as though you're just seeing the actor in their own personality. I think Bradly Cooper is among the diverse. He's growing on me. I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is among the diverse. There are a few rising talents that are coming into that mold. But there are so many more that have yet to find that identity.

@mieko-siede There aren't many at all... It's truly rare for me to rate anyone on this site a 5 star artist... everyone is in the 2-3 star range because they are average... They are the same as everyone else.. I really wish everyone could just be who they are... I like people like acting wise let's say Jack Nicholson... We have seen him do everything, from villains, to bad guys, to comedic arts, romance, everything... He does it in his own way... Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams how 3/4 of what they speak is not what was written on that script... true artist... then we have people now a days who are the same person in every thing they do... Like, even though I am sure I will get killed for this, Jason Segel... One of the greatest music and story writers in my opinon... acting... he is totally the same guy... in everything he has done... still very good, no depth... Musically, I hate hearing people rip Hans Zimmer to shreds... He never writes iconic themes... Is a big one I hear a lot... He writes music that fits his films... And the diversity of what he writes... Listen to Inception, then The Lion King, then Driving Miss Daisy... You would never guess that was the same guy... Elfman... I know its his from the first note... Sorry I'm ranting!

@mcleve02 I hear you. No one has a sense of identity anymore. That's what's been missing for quite some time. Someone is so appreciative to be likened to someone that they forget who they are themselves. I don't want to be likened to anyone. I want to be recognized as the artist I am, away from the shadow of someone that may have previously been in my place. Unfortunately that isn't the case anymore. For any achievement anyone makes in an industry that brings them mainstream, it will always be in the shadow of those before. Only the few that truly stand out for their talents have a shining name.

@mieko-siede I am with you... these people have their own art, and they are out there doing it! Everyone else is always trying to either be like another actor/actress or beat other people... music is the same way... My blast beats are faster than yours, I can play double bass faster... I can hit higher note on my trumpet... No one has any self pride in what they do with a lack of appreciation for what other people can do... and that is what is truly causing the collapse of the arts

@mcleve02 I have missed these kinds of film. Although I am a fan of how more time is taken to tell stories in certain genres of film, I missed the "real" action vehicles and the stars that once drove them. I think this comeback trail is an awesome conclusion to their careers.
I'd hate to see a Conan sequel but as you've stated before, there is sure to be one. It just lacked so much from the substance to the action. That was a movie, that in this age, there is no excuse not to have made it in an epic and compelling fashion. Several remakes have missed the mark. Many of them shouldn't have been done. Where I understand why some of them-the successful ones-were done.
This kind of movie, the nostalgia of it, is why I loved the first Expendables. I can't wait to see the second one.

This actually looks pretty good. A great end-of-the-Summer flick. Momoa looks great as the villain and that end line "Bang, down, owned." I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

@zender The sequel is going to happen. I think it was more so if they were doing a serious remake of the film, and there was a lot of pressure and the concentration just wasn't on that aspect as much as it should have been! I also loved how much more gore was in the beginning... The second half then turned into the Prince of Persia with its action haha

@the JOKER that's what they were going for but I do agree with you, two different directions for one film isn't good, but ha it worked out.

@zender Stallone never played Conan... Arnold did... and I rate the new one a mediocre... The first half of the film had more of realistic kind of vibe to it and the end was more like the comic... 2 different directions in one film... that's my hate towards it

@the JOKER what crappy Conan? is it the old one or are you referring to the new one (I loved the newer because it had the feel and look of what it should be).

P.S. I saw Expendables 2 last night and it was awesome. I couldn't believe I was having that much fun at the movies with those characters again. I was skeptical of the sequel, I always fear when they do sequels that they will drop the ball but oh my goodness was it firing on all cylinders!

I am personally looking forward to this, there has been a pretty good resurgence in this type of film. Too much of the action and action thriller fair got sidelined for 'summer blockbusters'.
Remember movies like:
Last Man Standing
The Last Boy Scout
The Die Hard Franchise
The Lethal Weapon franchise
The Pelican Brief
Conspiracy Theory
Showdown in Little Tokyo
Hard Target
Leon: The Professional
Nowhere to Run
Deathwish
the list goes on.

@jasonkat it feels like that because it's more like a 90s action thriller. This, The Last Stand are movies from a simpler time where story and memorable characters took precedence over the big budget summer fair of this new generation.

Remember in the 80s 90s when there wasnt such thing as top stars and alot of actors (such as stallone) were making movies, trying to make an aim for them selfs, back when movies used to be stupid but very fun to watch at the same time?!.. like "Robo cop, Judge Dredd, kindergarden cop" tango & cash, twins, bill & ted, Adventures in Babysitting and all those random types.
Thats how this movie comes across to me. Maybe cause i havnt seen an org. film from stallone in a long time. i mean his last films were rocky, rambo, and then expendables, Now this1 feels new and fresh. It feels like an updated to sumthing i seen b4.
i dont think it will disappoint.

Yea i should have said it better. I didnt mean this movie had star power. I meant the story feels weak, or like 1 of those john cena films or steven seagal where he trys to be the tough guy and kills all those bad guys. a 1 directional film.
Christian Slater is no top star. i dont think he ever has been, and if i can name his best work. i would say "robin hood, hard rain and broken arrow" as for the rest i have no idea who these people are, lol
Sarah needs no introduction. lol
As for stallone...I wouldnt call this his best work. but it aint his worse.
