New Regency has picked up Freedom Formula: Ghost of the Wasteland, and plans to adapt the Radical Publishing comicbook series as a possible directing vehicle for Bryan Singer.

According to Variety, the film will be distributed by Fox, which last worked with Singer on X2: X-Men United. Michael Finch has been hired to write the script.

The comicbook has a futuristic premise in which fighter jets have been replaced by pilots who battle in racing exo-suits. The protagonist is a genetically engineered racer who learns his bloodline has the power to change society.

No production date has been set.

Freedom Formula was released in 2010.

I have no idea what this is about (like err says, the synopsis is lame) but I am at least happy to see mech suits in mainstream Hollywood. I like mechs, they are fun.
When I say the image on the comic, I almost thought it was Brass - a scrapped comic from a decade back that was totally badass. I think it would make a better movie then some weird "racing robots" synopsis. I hope they don't bring back mechs by giving us movies like "robo jockeys" again. *shudder*

I agree with err. This does sound corny. In fact, it sounds like an anime that would've lasted 3 weeks on air.

    BUT!!!

Somehow I'm interested. I do want to see this. That suit in the pic looks awesome, too. :-P
