Bryan Singer confirmed to direct X-Men: Days of Future Past
The director served as a producer on the first of these prequels, and contributed to early drafts of the screenplay, when it was known as X-Men Origins: Magneto.
Matthew Vaughn was originally suppose to return as a director on X-Men: Days of Future Past, but he dropped out for reasons unknown. He is still attached to the project, though, and is close to signing on as a producer alongside Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. He also contributed to the story. It is unclear at this time if Bryan Singer will contribute rewrites to the current draft of the screenplay, which has been done for some time.
James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are set to return in the leads as Dr. Charles Xavier and Magneto, respectively.
X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters July 18th, 2014 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

Am I the only one who think Singer ruined the integrity of the X-Men we all grew up to love reading in the comic books or watching on saturday morning? He may be a great person, but he is a horrible director and I am sad to hear he is going to be directing another x-men movie. The changing of character's history, timeline, and just the dumbed down, dull and boring movies he made left a bad taste in my mouth. X-Men First Class shone hope to a failed x-men franchise. While I didn't love it, I was impressed with what they did and enjoyed it far more than the first 3. This news is worse than watching superman returns and valkyrie back to back.

No Thank You Marvel: What Singer brought to the plate was an actual stand point in superhero adaptations- he brought confidence- duality- character development but wrapped it up into a bundle and it felt- lets be honest rushed- not x-men- x-men is old, brash, full of lore- not to be pretentious under scored with political mystery. It would and will not work to get preachy and rights orientated with X-Men it stands as a franchise pop corn ball buster. Matthew Vaughn n though shined a light on this matter- what with Ratners take on trying to develop into Bryan was not smart nor polite to the film series- in itself the 2000/ 2002 X-Men films where very well mused- but the lore was never faithful nor intriguing- it tried to be a gripping character driven facade. X-Men is full of machinery, bright colours, impacting jolting premises, scope, imagination, visuals, characters seemed to be the key- the humanity that evolves within- yes yes we get that oh Mr. smart ass but instead of trying to get our confidence in how supreme and superior you are with this material well in my eyes wont materialise as it isn't faithful. First Class had this- with the design- yes it had major major continuity flaws and time displacement issues but still it was more x-men than the only x-men we can go off- and once we found that right guy- someone who took time away from his own passion- KickAss- to treat this and guide it to then just shrug- somewhere 20th Century Fox was hoping for Singer to replace- my opinion- drop it and get someone new in- as much as there is a tie in with Singers First Class is the most faithful X-Men adaptation so far.
Not only that but where has Professor X's designs, his weapons induced armoured wheel chair- what is this? The palette- scoring, everything bar a few intricate flaws and failures still doesn't leave First Class as a bad taste but the others are dated- boring, brooding- up tight mind wobblers- if you don't believe or find this opinion clarified- watch Superman Returns- now what the hell was that?

worst news ever. For those who consider Singer's attempts at X-men to be any good, I envy you for your lack of imagination. The movies were far from an X-men experience. The cartoon from the 90s is way better in story and development alone in its first three episodes. Singer has a narrow scope of imagination. He tends to make lame attempts at what could and should potentially be epic pieces of cinema. he has no epic imagination and thats why his movies suffer. He turned all the cool superheroes into kids and rarely showcased their abilities, making it difficult to fall in love with any other character asides wolverine. For a child, X-men was about finding that one character you related to and admired. That was not possible in any of his movies. Of course the story has a heavier political backstory, but it came off rushed, blatant, dumbed-down, and cheesy. It is because of Singer why we will never get the live action X-men we fell in love with in the comics and cartoon. For those that say it cannot be done, well, that is why you're imagination is just as small as Mr. SInger's.

I'm a big fan of Singer in general, and love what he's done with X-Men in the past -- well, except for bailing on the third film, which led to Ratner's disappointing involvement. It's good to see him come home to the franchise he first launched.

With the whole X Men Origins being a f'ed up version of all things X Men, I am not to worried. Singer put X-men on the map, and left for a crappy Superman movie. I really enjoyed all the X-Men movies. But knowing they take some creative license with them, like they did for X3, to me, ruins it. At least when Nolan did Batman, we all knew from the start, he was doing his own thing, on a realistic take on it. Same for Ironman. X-Men First Class to me, was poorly put out, in terms of characters, but fantastically written and put on film. A example would be Dark Knight Rises. Comic fans know Bane had nothing to do with Raz, and Bane was the one left as a child in the prison, ect. But he wrote it so well and put it on screen the right way, even though you're like, no he wasn't while watching, you kinda didn't care a lot.

@rjh094...Thats true, his version of X3/ Phoenix Saga would've been awesome, we would've saw Jean force Cyclops to kill her by controlling his optic beam, I think that would make more of an emotional death seeing the man shes loves be the one to kill her.
