Jonathan Mostow is directing the upcoming sci-fi thriller The Surrogates for Disney. According to Variety, Bruce Willis recently signed on to star in the project.

Willis signed the deal shortly after United Artists pulled the plug on Oliver Stone's Pinkville, which Willis was set to star in. The Surrogates was written by Michael Ferris and John Brancato. It is based on a Top Shelf Comix property.

The plot takes place in the future, where humans use surrogate robots to interact with each other. Willis will play a cop that solves the murder of surrogate robots through the use of his own surrogate robot. When things go awry, the cop must venture out of his house for the first time in years.

The film is set to begin shooting this February in Boston.
