Bruce Campbell to Have a Bigger Role in Spider-Man 4?

Access Hollywood recently caught up with Bruce Campbell at the premiere of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. He talked a little bit about his role in the highly anticipated Spider-Man 4.

Apparently, the famed character actor may have a bigger role in the new film.

He told Access Hollywood that for the fourth film, "he's been told he has a major part - but didn't yet know anything about his character."

Fans on the web are talking and it seems like Campbell might play the character of Mysterio.

Spider-Man 4 will be in theaters May 2011.

    I see where every bodies going with his messing around with the media, and passing around over exaggerated news. I just hope that this time around, they're not just f*cking with people. It would be to awesome to have Bruce as Mysterio and I think it would be a great lead back to Evil Dead 4.

    Although it probably won't happen it can work perfectly. Everytime we see him he is a announcer/host (spiderman), a door guy who wants to keep the illusion(hint hint) in spiderman 2, and then of course in spiderman 3. Maybe he goes from job to job wanting more and is down on his luck and used to be a great entertainer and then wham something happens he becomes Mysterio etc. But I doubt it. :P

    I really hope they go with Mysterio as the villian in this. He is one of my favorites. Also, they need to resurrect Venom. There was not enough of him in the third. He is every Spiderman fan's favorite villian. We need more Venom.

    just to erase the speculation, he won't be Mysterio, that's fan speculation.
    I've read the treatment to Spiderman 4 the only villain is Lizard with introduction of Roderick Kingsley.

    Unless they are planning to pull another Venom and bring a new character in during the last rewrite to the screenplay, which is the same thing that happen to venom henceforth why he had such small development and little screentime.

    You guys do realize every time Campbell is in a Spider-man movie he tells the press prior to it's release that he has a huge role / pivitol to the story?

    Every. Single. Time.

    Spider-man 1: I have a major role in this film.
    Post release: I gave spider-man his name!

    Spider-man 2: I have a big role in this movie.
    Post Release: I am able to restrain Spider-man from seeing his girlfriend.

    Spider-man 3: I have a major role in this film.
    Post Release: I help spider-man propose to his girlfriend.

    Spider-man 4: I have a major role in this film.

    Guess what, it's not gonna be some huge role like everyone's saying. Campbell's just messing with the press. Tongue in cheek and all that stuff.

    He always say he has a major part, but it's kind of a gag. Like, he gave Spider-Man his name, caused turmoil in his romance with MJ in the second, and almost helped Peter propose in the third one. Important and big are relative terms.
