The actor first addressed how the new project is different from the original one.
"There's none of the original characters. We didn't want to compare apples with apples. It's a contemporary movie - just like Evil Dead was contemporary in 1979, this is contemporary for young adults now. It's basically five new kids who are going to have a really bad night with a brand new director - Fede Alvarez, who was handpicked by Sam Raimi. I've seen it already; I think it's definitely fabulous."
He goes on to speak about how this rendition will hopefully win fans back after the initial backlash.
"We're really excited and really behind it, but it's going to take a bit to get the Evil Dead fans behind it. We know we've pissed a lot of them off. We appreciate that and we appreciate their anger and their zeal, but the only thing we want to impress upon them is that we didn't screw it up. This is going to be just as memorable as the original Evil Dead without being the same movie."
Evil Dead was released April 5th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore, Phoenix Connolly, Jim McLarty, Sian Davis. The film is directed by Fede Alvarez.

If they're going to try give us some version of theirs, of what they think another character of somebody like Ash could be like in another time and place, I'm not interested. If they are going to try something completely different, that they think is up to par with Ash/Bruce Campbell, I'm not interested. If they are going to try an impersonation of Ash with "a twist" I'm not interested. Have I covered all my bases? They lost me with two words; remake and contemporary. Like me, every single freakin' Evil Dead fan wanted a sequel. What was hard to understand about that?! We all Know that Bruce is getting older and can't flip himself with his own posessed hand like he did in Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, but we don't need him to. He just has to take a vacation from Burn Notice to wield the "chaaainsawwww", get rid of that middle ages robot hand and blow away Kandarian Demons with his Boom Stick and we're all happy. Oh and dye his hair so he doesn't look that much older that he did in A.O.D. We don't ask much. And if "The Classic" is not in it, they can be Dragged to Hell.

Agreed. I can't get behind this project at all. They should have just left well enough alone.

Lets be perfectly honest here- Do you see Jane Levy being as memorable as Bruce Campbell? If you can't bring yourself to say yes, then this movie has failed before it ever hits theaters.

Rated-X
If it is going to be comtemprary its fine- as long as - well expressed by Cambell its not apples vs apples thats fine- and Raimi hand picked this guy- i just hope it has all the great natruel traights and more that we love and it references its history and influence. But then again Hollywood is genicide as we know- there is no enthusiasm for originality- and seeing this to be a contemp film and it is what horror was to that day is dash board head explodingly simplistically dim! But im far and inbetween!

but... but... Bruce Campbell... why... You can not be replaced as @skywise already said... Once again Hollywood, you are wasting your time doing remakes instead of coming up with original ideas!!!! Why do you make me so angry!!!

there is just no replacing Campbell.

Well, it's good that he's supporting it, but I mean his boy IS Sam Raimi, so what's he going to do, say it sucks and have Sam fall on his face? I'm on the fence on seeing it or not. I'm a huge Halloween fan, and I haven't and will not be seeing Rob Zombie's abominations. Halloween and Halloween II, that's it. No stupid little girl from The Last Boyscout running around or anything like that. Micheal Myers and Dr. Loomis died in the explosion, period! We'll see about Evil Dead. I'm not sold on it. Last info stated that the ASH character won't be in it, and to me, that's sucks rotten, rancid, putrid, maggot-infested, vomit inducing, smelly eggs!
