With no big-studio theatrical releases on the shelves this week, an indie managed to sneak through and score wins on all three home video charts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brooklyn's Finest debuted with a clean sweep atop the DVD sales, DVD rental and Blu-ray sales charts, for the week ending July 11.The new release knocked last week's top two releases on all three charts - Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Hot Tub Time Machine - down to both second and third places on in all three categories, respectively. The only other notable new release was another indie film, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which took fourth place on the DVD sales charts and fifth place on the Blu-ray sales charts.
Brooklyn's Finest completed the sweep on the Blu-ray sales charts, although only selling a modest 25% of its total units in the high definition format. However, second-place finisher Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief only sold 70% as many BD titles as Brooklyn's Finest.
Brooklyn's Finest was released March 5th, 2010 and stars Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes, Vincent D'Onofrio, Brian F. O'Byrne, Will Patton, Michael K. Williams. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua.
