Bridget Jones' Baby Hugh Grant Rumors Debunked

Hugh Grant is not departing Bridget Jones' Baby

Last night, a report surfaced indicating that the comedy sequel Bridget Jones' Baby was in turmoil, with actor Hugh Grant leaving the project due to a delay in production. Today, Working Title Films' co-chairman Tim Bevan issued a statement, which confirms the production delay, but debunks the rumor that Hugh Grant has stepped away from the follow-up film.

"Reports that Hugh Grant has exited Bridget Jones' Baby are untrue. We are still working on the script, hence the delay to the start of production, but the film is going ahead as planned."

We last reported on this project back in November, when director Peter Cattaneo signed on to the sequel. He will work from a screenplay by Helen Fielding, David Nicholls, and Paul Feig, who at one point was attached to direct.

Working Title did not announce when production would actually start on Bridget Jones' Baby, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

Bridget Jones' Baby is in development and stars Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant. The film is directed by Peter Cattaneo.
