I didn't know Chris Hemsworth was playing Thor, that sounds like a great choice. As a few have already stated, the acting ability is the most essential part to the character. If that's achieved, everything else falls into place.

    Brian Blessed? Why not...

    I totally agree K-Man.

Brian Blessed is a good choice here, look forward to seeing his performance.

I have been saying it for years, Brian Blessed should be one of the Dwarves in The Hobbit! He would be so freakin perfect!

haha back to topic, ur the first to even talk bout the topic. anyway i have not experience with this actor so idk if he is good or not, he looks like wut i'd expect odin to be so that works.

and Hemsworth will be good. has Marvel cast anyone yet that hasn't been good for their role. i have faith in Marvel, and beside did u see Star Trek, he acted the sh*t out of the first five minutes of the film. and like Vis said he can bulk up. i want someone in shape i don't need HHH lookin guy to play thor, i want it to be believable in a sense (lol, believable, he is playing the Norse god of thunder). but thats the thing, he is playing a god he has power and doesn't need to look ridiculously powerful, which is actually almost the exact same thing that Superman has goin for, and it was already said so i won't bother repeating Vis.

So back to the topic... Brian Blessed should be great as Odin, he's got that big over-the-top personality and looks awesome in a big beard!

Wait, so guys your saying if this guy can act, nothing else matters to you? So they can rape the suit like they did to Supermans, and he doesnt have to be muscular like Thor? Is that what your saying?

Agent...Your a f*g huh? Yes, please explain to me the life and times of Superman, and how he must blend in. Everyone who draws "THE MAN" makes him...you know, I am not ganna do this, all your ass has to do is go look at an Alen Ross drawing of Supes. Then tell me if the homo who played him in Returns looks anything like that. I mean Christopher looked a little more like what Im talking about, maybe because they didnt f**k with the suit! I dont know, but I do know the dick they haev playing Superman now is nothing close to what he should be. AND! What wrestler played Thor before?!?!?

vis is right. anyone can build the body for a role, but the acting part is crucial. if you have the right actor, everything else falls into place.
and people have different conceptions of superman, but the basis is the same. he's insanely powerful, but also appears as a human.

Anyone can get muscles. Not everyone can act good. Hemsworth'll hit the gym. He's pretty fit right now, anyway. If he gets built more and can manage an accent, I'm sure he can pull it off. I'd rather have James Kirk's father playing Thor than another f*cking wrestler.

The appeal of Superman is that his strength is not vein-popping. He's not built to the point where muscles are ripping through his clothes. Some artists like to draw him like that, but that's not Superman. It's important that he can wear street clothes for the whole "secret identity" thing in case you missed it. He's an alien with god-like abilities stuck in a human's body as a civilian, but when he rips open the shirt and reveals the 'S' that's when his true strength shows
