The site spoke with the film's producer, Joe Gatta, who confirmed that Ratner is off the remake.
"We're currently in the process of hiring a director," he told us. "For the past six months we were discussing the movie with Brett Ratner, and for more timing issues than anything else we had to part ways with Brett. We all wanted him to do it, believe me; just the timing didn't work. But you never know what can happen."
The producer also mentioned that the film is eyeing a production start-date of August 24 in Bulgaria.
Conan the Barbarian was released August 19th, 2011 and stars Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Steven O'Donnell. The film is directed by Marcus Nispel.

THEY NEED TO LEAVE THIS MOVIE ALONE!!!! I CAN'T SEE ANYONE ELSE PLAYING CONAN OTHER THAN ARNOLD. I'M SURE THEY COULD FIND SOMEONE WHO COULD PLAY HIM. BUT WHY REMAKE A GREAT MOVIE?
BY THE WAY, I LOVED JAMES EARL JONES' ROLE IN THE ORIGINAL AS WELL.
AND CONAN THE DESTROYER SUCKED.

Another BAD idea of a remake.
there's a reason the remake of conan hasn't been done...cause it's a BAD idea!
Leave it to pick up something like this!

No, motherf*cker, once Arnold is in a movie that is solely based off of his celebrity. No one can do this but him.

You seem to be forgetting that Conan is a book/comic book character, Newkill. Arnold ISN'T Conan because it's not like they wrote an original script about a barbarian precisely for that actor. Just like with any other comic character, he can have different people play him, especially if this is a, ya know, reboot...idk why i even bothered saying that anyways...it's not like you'll think it through

ZZ, you f*cking idiot. It's Terminator Salvation, takes place in the future, moron. It didn't involve Arnold. Conan does. You can't do it without Arnold. A little advice ball licker when you try to make a point go stick your head up your grandfather's ass.

How can they make Terminator without Arnold?
Oh, wait, they did...
But to answer your question: look at one of the keywords in your sentence: "remake"

How can you remake Conan without Arnold?

I agree: Wolfgang Peterson.
Peter Jackson wouldn't direct this; but he's still a good choice.

Troy was a good solid 4 star film. Poseidon could have been better, but oh well. I can see him doing this really good.

i could totally see Wolfgang Peterson making it, then everybody gets super excited, then we all remember Troy and Poseidon, and then Conan ends up sucking as bad as those lol

No ways. I hate Eli, and the work he's done. Sorry. I say Chuck Russel, or Wolfgang Peterson, or possibly, possibly, possibly, Peter Jackson.
