Brett Cullen has taken a role in The Runaways, River Road's drama about Joan Jett's seminal all-girl punk band in the 1970's, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cullen will play the alcoholic father of Runaways member Cherie Currie (Fanning). The role will draw from the story of Currie's father, whom she documented in her addiction memoir "Neon Angel."

The Runaways is currently shooting in Los Angeles.

The Runaways was released March 19th, 2010 and stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon, Stella Maeve, Scout Taylor-Compton, Alia Shawkat, Riley Keough, Johnny Lewis. The film is directed by Floria Sigismondi.
