About the poster, co-director Mark Andrews had this to say.
"What we want to get across [with the teaser] is that this story has some darker elements. Not to frighten off our Pixar fans - we'll still have all the comedy and the great characters. But we get a little bit more intense here."
Brave was released June 22nd, 2012 and stars Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Sally Kinghorn. The film is directed by Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman, Steve Purcell.

I hate how people sugar coat life. Darker is better, because in some instances it truer and more realistic.

@jcberry526 - luminous bread crumbs? It's Scottish, so I'd say "faeries" :P
And I won't mention why those "lights" are trailing her. That would be a spoiler ;)

@moviemaniac66 - it helps them more in the long run, and it's not that hard to find something to do, or watch, in the meantime. Besides. Keeping that amount of excitement pent up for a whole year can't be good, for anyone.
Maybe that's how the whole "fangasm" thing started? :P

@diaigma I hate the whole year in advance trailer, only because it gets me too excited for the movie and it sucks having to contain excitement for a whole year.

Wow. Awesome poster. Does anyone know if there will be a teaser attached to Cars 2?

Darker elements? Now THAT'S more like it! :D
Possible trailer, maybe? They need to return to a-year-in-advance trailers :P
