Brands Pony Up for James Bond Sequel

Variety reports that the James Bond sequel Quantum of Solace is attracting many of the same brands as Casino Royale, including Ford Motor Co., Heineken beer, Smirnoff vodka, Omega watches, Virgin Atlantic, Sony Ericsson cell phones and other Sony electronics.

These brands all have products placed in the film and each will shell out tens of millions of dollars as a promotional partner of the pic.

Daniel Craig, who reprises his role as 007, won't be the sole face to promote the products. Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, who plays feisty 007 ally Camille in the pic, is being used to push Heineken beer and the latest version of Ford's small European car, the Ka.

The redesigned version of the Ka will roll out in European dealerships around the Nov. 7 release of the film. A special-edition Solace-themed Ka will be sold that features metallic gold paint and exterior graphics. Ford is spending most of its movie tie-in coin in Europe.

Quantum of Solace was released November 14th, 2008 and stars Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, David Harbour. The film is directed by Marc Forster.

This movie will set a record for November, Now that Potter has been moved Bond should make some serious money. Heineken beer and cars, geez if it where Budweiser and cars, we could just put decals on Bonds car like NASCAR.

Does it really matter. I don't care if Bond is wearing a rolex or a transformers watch from a box of Frosted Flakes (No I'm not product placing), this movie's going to kick ass.

I never realized that movies make so much from that? It's like boxoffice is only 1 tiny aspect to the whole thing....and yea, I can see too much would be a headache....like where is the art when it becomes too much like a commercial?

yea, that is a dumb reason name.. it was barely a product shout out, it was just reitterating the fact that he was a spoiled oxford boy. I'm sure you have tons of Omega watches though.

as much as i loved "Casino Royale" (and believe me i was infatuated with it), i really detested the amount of blatant product placement it had:

"Rolex?" "Omega." "Beautiful." - give me a break
