The Green Lantern was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan, introduced in 1959, is a second-generation test pilot, an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."
Green Lantern was released June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Mike Doyle. The film is directed by Martin Campbell.

Warner Bros owns DC, so essentinally they have their own studio, but they have only proved themselves with BATMAN...superman was a joke.
They need to take things seriously like MARVEL Studios, IRON MAN & HULK were great first products.
They need to up the ante.

with Cooper though he doesn't have any big breakout leading man role yet, so he could be fully committed to GL.

First off, guys, stop fighting already no one is making any good points regardless. Secondly, you obviously haven't watched Midnight Meat Train, because it's a serious movie. He is very serious in it. I hope he gets this over Gosling (Gosling bugs the crap out of me). He's due for a big big break ya know? I'm pretty sure he can pull it off. Hell, even Batman is funny in some scenes on purpose. Of COURSE THEY WILL PUT COMIC RELIEF IN THE FILM. Duh, he is already funny, and he can do serious so why the heck not? If you picture his face with the little green eye piece/mask thingy on, tell me you don't see him as The Green Lantern lol? He looks like a c*cky pilot to me. I think he's one of the better casting rumors I've heard in a long time actually. Chris Pine looks the part as well, but I have no clue how his acting ability is until we see Star Trek.
