Bradley Cooper may be setting up a future villain
Bradley Cooper is rumored to have joined the Superman: Man of Steel cast after having his schedule freed up due to Paradise Lost going into indefinite purgatory. This comes from a trusted inside source at Warner Bros. But it has in no way been confirmed or denied. Yet.
That's because his role is being kept a secret. If you want to know more, please, continue reading.
In April, it was revealed that Lex Luthor had a substantial role in the early drafts of the Superman: Man of Steel script. Director Zack Snyder claimed that he was taking this first chapter in, what could become, a rebooted franchise in a different direction from the past five films. All of which had Lex as the main villain. It was believed that Luthor would no longer be in the movie. But remember, Zack said the same thing about Zod, and we know for certain that Michael Shannon is playing that exact character.
According to this new "rumor", Lex Luthor has been added back into the script, with the freed-up Bradley Cooper playing the role. It's believed that this cameo is setting up Lex to be a major player in a sequel to Superman: Man of Steel (but come on, when was the last time one of Zack Snyder's movies was good enough to warrant a sequel?)
The first couple of drafts saw Lex coming in at the end of Superman: Man of Steel to force the evil Kryptonians through a Phantom Zone. He then considered doing the same to Superman, but chickened out at the last minute. Its not known if this same ending is intact.
If Bradley Cooper is indeed playing Lex Luther, he will be following in the footsteps of Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey. Let's hope he looks good with a bald head.
Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Russell Crowe, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

@yannick-decorte True, but it doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to avoid an article that reveals plots and rumors. The use of some common sense comes to mind...

I will only allow Lex as a villain if they do him right, threatening, and something a little different from the four out of five films he was in.
That being said, hopefully there's another villain in the sequel too.

@bawnian-dexeus Alright. Well I have been mostly absent for the last year off this site and internet in general. Haven't been getting my movie news fix like usual. So bear with me all, I'm temporarily back for a few days maybe more but will be back full-time soon, and as you can tell I'm somewhat behind on everything.

I love how I diplomatically stated how people should quit their pointless bitching, only to read more pointless bitching.

@Scifipop totally agree with you.. i want to see Metallo and Brainiac.. but not having Lex in a Superman movie series is like not having the joker in a Batman one

Please please no more Lex as the main villain. It's about time Superman gets to fight some bad ass villains in his movies besides Lex Luther.

Stop bitching about Orange, people. He gave nothing of relevance away in the title.
As for this story, okay. Cooper's involvement doesn't bother me.

@comicbookfan Far as I'm concerned, it won't be in the same film universe. I mean, there was a news article that stated WB/DC was planning on casting new roles after Nolan's Bat and Cavill's Superman

Yeah and Chris Evans was Torch first then Cap. Marvel to Marvel. But let's not forget the time gap between said instances either. The Flash would probably be held up longer if they wanted Cooper so soon after playing a role in Supes. Let's hope he's like Jimmy Olsen or something lol.

@zanyzap I would not think so. With so many different angels already out there on minor parts, to major origin pieces to Superman, I would think he would pick the best ones for "His" story. If you look at Lex, there was different times of in his life that has Superman meeting him. One had Clark and Lex friends, not just Smallville show. One had him being a full on super criminal when they meet, like Gene Hackman. Or Lex being a smooth super rich guy who is a secret godfather type criminal until proof is shown he is bad, like Louis and Clark tv show. And that one, he had hair until late in the show's running, when he finally went bald for fans.

@comicbookfan EXACTLY! I was hoping for a Marvel's The Avengers type of set up for a Justice League film. Warner Bros. has nothing after Harry Potter so might as well. If they use Bradley for Lex, then he can't be The Flash in an adaptation of that!

@barkx Technically, you should've put a spoiler tag on your comment since many users skip the article to discuss Superman: MOS ;) But maybe I'm just being picky.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Cooper as a villain but I don't think this role is right for him.
