Went to See Prometheus over the weekend it was a very good movie and has some good ties in with Alien , every Alien fan needs to see this movie , Hints at a sequel .

@dess I have to agree, there seemed to be a lot of over the top acting and out of character decisions. Great visuals and enjoyable premise but definitely needed more work on the script.

@cheetoboy I will give you the visual effects 8/10. The acting though aside from the david character, to me everyone else seem to try to hard. And man I cant get past the cheesy lines ... i want to meet them, they are telling us to go, all just seemed bleh(for lack of a better word).

And I get the whole classic questions, but this movie didn't give me any of that. Like I said in one of my previous posts, I left the room saying, lame.

I'm not hating or spitting on the sir, his movies are great. But I think he should be screening the scripts better.

granted it is my opinion, and on that one you get a 10/10.

This film was absolutely stunning. VISUALLY. HELL YES. Better win the Oscar for best visual effects, production design, art direction. As for storywise-there were plotholes but the acting kept the film solid. Funny how Michael Fassbender is playing a character named David and Charlie wears a shirt in the movie that I was wearing at the screening. LOL

@dmrob058 PERFECT! COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT PERFECT. People clamored for scott to come back to a dead franchise and non existent genre lately, and when he does the fans spit on him. i dont think he is reimagining the genre, but definately is reinvigorating it. bravo ridley scott for a fine film and giving us some food for thought once we set the popcorn down and the lights go bright.

I still feel like Madagascar will win. The theater I work at, Prometheus tickets are selling...but not nearly as many as they are for Madagascar! I've never dealt w/ so many kids!

The movie is excellent, sir ridley scott, Damon lindenloff, and h.r giger including the cast are phenomenal, fassbender and guy Pierce did an incredible job, great movie.

@dess What I mean't was back in the day movies were alot more original and it was cool for a film to be mysterious and make you ask questions. Now of course if you didn't like the movie thats okay, thats your opinion, but it was still probably good to others, you know everybody has there own opinion of what they do or don't like. Also I can't necessarily agree with some comments about Prometheus being critically panned, it currently holds 75% on the rottentomatoes meter and actually most of the biggest critics, even those who said negative things about Prometheus still gave it props for its visual effects and well acted cast.

@cheetoboy except this movie had nothing of what you are referring to back in the day movies.

@incmob Yeah, i know what you mean. The fact that its R rated though, i don't think that's a good thing for it.

@dmrob058 Sir, you stole the words right out my mouth (or fingers in this case). Couldn't agree with you more. Blade Runner was panned by everyone back in the day for "not being like Star Wars". Prometheus is getting panned now for "not being like Alien". I just hope enough people love it now and it makes enough money to ensure a sequel.

Congrats to Prometheus, glad its doing well, although I'm kind of disappointed that it will get out done by Madagascar3. Anyways Prometheus sounds very interesting, its good to have a movie that makes you think every once in a while. Back in the day it was cool for movies to be mysterious and make you ask questions, now these days people are hard to please, more will probably be explained in a sequel. But anyways just saying, people shouldn't be so quick to diss something just because its different.

The visuals were great, Fassbender done an excellent job as David and I enjoyed the ties to Alien but overall I wasn't impressed.&#65279 There was to many 'out of character' moments and plot points that didn't go anywhere. And in general I felt the pacing of the movie didn't feel right. Usually I can overlook the odd issue in a film this big and ambitious but there was just too many things that bugged me. 5/10

Deadline.com is now reporting that Madagascar 3 will take the weekend with over 60 million dollars. While Prometheus will have 55 to 60 million. That sucks.

@dmrob058 you say that as if you're the king of opinions when it comes to Prometheues. You're "Not surprised that that stupid ass critics and no brain mainstream audiences are dismissing it" how much of a pretentious d!ck can you get? lol

I'm going to have to hate on this movie. I wasn't even planing on seeing, but a couple of good friends wanted to catch it. After the movie I turned to my friends and said LAME! I mean come on make a big fuss for this movie and the story revolves around the whole premises of "oh i want to talk to my creators(engineers), wait they are trying to kill me? i must find out why" Can I just laugh? Worst $9 spent on a movie ever.

And the writer was contracted to rewrite some of the story for world war z, man I can see another let down coming.

just settle down guys - do not argue for the sake,.. straight forward question "RS said, Prometheus is about who we are, who created us, who created them and wer do they come from?" - doz the film answer any of the Qs? atleast 1? (ok now tell me why did the space jockey aka engineer hate the humans so much? why doz he kill the entire crew? Noomi asks tthis Q a million times in the movie thats an added unsolved mystery?!! come on its visually good in some place apart from that the movie is totally lame ans stupid.. haters of my comment pls think all the points before u engage in an argument,... (A big let down from Sir RS)

    Prometheus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Avengers.

"Prometheus wasn't as much of an alien prequel as I wanted it to be." "It didn't give me all the answers I wanted" Wahh wah wah. Christ haters just going to hate no matter what. If you actually want to experience a movie that will truly make you THINK then Prometheus is for you. If you want to be a part of something that the masses will eat up and not even think about much after it's over then by all means go for Avengers. I love both movies honestly but I'm astonished at the hate Prometheus is getting. I love how much is up for debate and how much is left mysterious and frankly I'm disappointed (though not altogether shocked) that stupid ass critics and no brain mainstream audiences are dismissing it. Scott's films seem to have a tradition of being dismissed upon releasing and sooner or later becoming an instant classic (at least his sci-fi flicks) and I predict Prometheus will be no different one day.

No such thing as a perfect movie. all of em have pros & cons,
Weither its the driven-story, the plot, its cgi, the cast or a "cast member", Now adding 3D can really fu@k a movie up. Nomatter how great of a movie it can be at the boxoffice, They all have flaws Regardless of how much you/we loved it.

@dan1 no doubt... i thought avengers was big, loud, and great chemistry... the story was not complicated, but i agree it was simple and needed to be just to bring them all together. But prometheus was just done right... i applaud not only for ridley scott coming back to the genre and feel that had any other director taken on this film, would have failed... of course it is not without flaws, but even the avengers, or the dark knight, or star wars has flaws. I thought emotionally, thoughtfully, storywise and even character development was strong. much like the first alien film, there are characters you care about and ones you loathe even though you want to like them. there are so many motifs in this film that i loved, and was not dissapointed in it, which most of the films this summer i cant say the same for.

On another website i saw what the alien looks like, and im thinking ok this thing better be as good as it loo in the film. by all means, "it" doesdnt look scary, but i guess in the film that can change.

@themoviefanatic i dont think it will do avengers numbers, but i think it will do well for an R rated film. I think word of mouth is key, not sure there will be a lot of repeat business though... avengers had both going for it... i know a lot of people that saw it 2 or more times, where prometheus will more than likely be a one time viewing except for hardcore fans. R rated have a harder time gaining an audience... although i loved that it was... but films like hangover are an exception but typically dont pull off too strong of numbers.
