I agree with what most of you guys have said. If I had to guess, I'd say most people that plan to see the final HP movie will see it opening weekend. Yeah, it will have huge numbers this weekend but I imagine it'll have one of the biggest second weekend drops in box-office history.
Just checked boxofficemojo and they reported HP's opening day of 90million dollars, that's right **90 MILLION DOLLARS** that is the New Record for largest opening day of all-time!
Saw it with my wife today, was actualy better then i expected. One of the "better" movies ive seen this summer and im not even a potter fan. Feel bad for Cap he doesent stand a chance next week. Im still hoping he pulls adecent profit. Heres hoping....
I reckon this grand finale will be the fastest film to reach the billion dollar mark to be honest... Consider it destroyed Twilight's record by a whooping 15 million from a singular screening worldwide.... Just imagine the dame its going to do with 8 screenings a day worldwide
I've been praying that the last film will cross the $1 billion dollar mark. None of them have passed the 1st film but 7 part 1 was close. I think it has a pretty loyal fan base. Plus it's the last movie and has 3D mixed in. Biggest movie ever? Probably not. But it will be somewhere in the top 5!
Harry Potter is about to smash TDK's record. It has already snatched Twilight's wig and it's about to come for Nolan's classic and hold on to the crown.
its going to be around that sum, its already beat the opening midnight record and if thats in a singular midnight showings worldwide..... then imagine the damage this film will commence with 8 showings a day per cinema in 2 screen each one in 3d and the other in 2d.
And the lines here in london are so crazy they're being shown on the news lol
Damn! The rest of the films dont stand a chance! Huh! Anyway I am going to see it for the second time tommorow (Saturday). And for a third time on Tuesday. And, I hope, for A FOURTH time on Thursday. That's how much I liked it.
Opening weekend most certainly. I doubt fans will continue to return to the theater to see this. It's not a complete story as others have pointed out, and as other "Part 2" films have fared, they make loads in their first week out, then slow down. That'll probably be the case here. HP fanatics want to see it opening day, and it's popular enough of a franchise to make these numbers, but it doesn't sound nearly as strong as previous installments. More like a CGI chunked special effects extravaganza. They always make money early on, and decline gradually, but still at a predictable rate. It'll make a billion sure, but I doubt it'll surpass "Titanic." Let alone "Avatar."

I'm calling total BS on those weekend numbers. Without a nice Saturday and Sunday it will fall short of 158.4 million record held by TDK.

I will be pleased to see it make a good 350-400 million domestic, and easily a billion+ worldwide. But no, I highly doubt it'll dethrone Avatar.

At least until TDKR is released next year.
