@TheMightyThor I do accept the fact that people have different tastes, I haven't been going around and judging people for their oppinions. Im taking is personally because of the fact that you're the only one who has been going around on comments and bashing on this movie. State your oppinion and shut it. You don't have to tell everyone what you think.

the same can be said about your comments. we got it... you liked the film. to each his own. just accept the fact that people have different tastes and opinions. no one is wrong here. stop taking it as a personal attack.

@TheMightyThor Seems like you have watched to many youtube videos sir, in the theatre I was in, people actually cheered after the movie. I've told you many times allready, we got it dude. You hated this movie. So what? No one gives a damn what you thought about it, so it doesn't matter how much you ramble on about it. Yeah, I knew that Sinestro eventually because "evil" but it was still awesome to see.

the after credits scene was so predictable and there was a resounding "Is that it?!?!" from the audience. you can't possibly say that you were not expecting to see that somewhere in the movie. if you know anything about green lantern, this was as predictable as could be.

@lane1@lane1 I completely agree with you. And I have heard exactly the same things about the movie as you just described. It's very rare I agree with critics either, and somehow it always seems to be the movies that they bash on that you don't agree on. However, mostly, when they describe a movie with positive critiques it's true. So I don't know, maybe they feel like they get to get alittle bit douchier after giving a movie props. Or they just dig too deep into the movie and really try to enhance mistakes. In any case, the people that I have spoken with who have watched the film have only had good things to say about it, so I'll be the judge of how good it is., not the critics.

@lane1 I'll be curious to see if my family laughs at his jokes. One of their favorite movies is The Proposal, so they're familiar with his brand of humor.

Also, you have to assume that many people interested in the superhero/comic book genre are unfamiliar with Reynolds comedic work. So the fact that they were laughing at his material in an otherwise serious performance makes it all the more better.

@TheMightyThor and @Brizzy - All I know is every person who was in the theatre with me was laughing at all the jokes that were made and delivered by Ryan. Not laughing AT him but WITH him. That has to count for something. Despite all the negatives surrounding this movie, I truly believe that the general movie going public do not go by what "professional" critics (and I use that term loosely) have to say. I'm sure there are plenty who read the reviews but speaking for myself, I rarely ever agree with them. I can only think of a few times where I agreed with a critic on a film and even then it was one or 2 things or an overall quote they made of the film. For example, at the time of Spider-Man 2's release, I agreed with Ebert when he said "This is the best superhero movie I have ever seen" because, at the time, it was and the majority of the world's population agreed with that, as was evidenced by their own reviews, comments, and feelings on the film. Overall though, aside from rare statements like that from critics, I think a lot of them are out of touch with what movie-goers are looking for in a film, much like some filmmakers are when they make a movie the general audience hates... and make no mistake, it is not the general audience who have hated on this film.
@superman81, Well said. That's been my stance and advice to people all along.
@nawtnt You do realize there are only going to be 4 (maybe 5?) comic book films in total this whole year, not just the summer, right? Of course Thor and X-Men have been the best "so far"... Green Lantern JUST came out and Cap A isn't out yet. Ridiculous comment to make by you.

@moviegeek That's a really good point. It's Father's Day weekend. I'm sure that'll drive Super 8's sales up for the father/son element, and because a lot of fathers grew up with those kind of movies, so that's 2 wins in Super 8's corner right there.

Here's my predictions:
1.Green Lantern-55mil
2.Super 8-40mil
3.X-Men: First Class-25mil

Green Lantern has every chance of bombing or being a hit with the box office after it got negative reviews.
Thor and X-Men: First Class got great reviews and I watched them and those two films are the best comic book movies of the summer so far.

I do not think Jim Carrey (or CGI animals) have the box office draw they once did. I'm predicting Super 8 in the 2 spot, because of strong word of mouth. GL is clearly going to be first, despite all the negative buzz. I'm still interested in checking it out, but I may postpone and see Midnight in Paris this weekend instead. I'm not in any hurry to see GL anymore.

I guess making a movie that kids can enjoy is not good anymore if your a comic book movie. Wasn't comics created for kids too? This movie got panned cause it didn't take itself as serious as xmen or Thor. This movie was very quick paced which was fine but I think they spent more time on the origin and less on the action. But I think that's ok cause it sets up for part 2. I don't base my opinion of critics who get paid to bash movies that appeal to people or praise crap movies that no one cares about. I base it off my own opinion. If u saw it and liked it great if not that's cool too. But don't not go see it just cause a suit said they didn't like it.

@TheMightyThor Oh blow it out your ass. We got it, you hate the Green Lantern movie, It might have sucked in your oppinion, or you're just a hater, I dont know, I dont care. But Im sick and tired of seeing your comments everywhere, bashing the movie. Get a life sir. Plus, if they did make any such mistakes as you think and that they notice the peoples reactons, they'll change such mistakes in the sequels. Because no matten what, you sure as hell can't deny that the after-creds scene left you gasping. People who have walked out of theaters have all said that it was amazing and almost everyone else for that matter. Except for you and some critics, noone has said anything bad about the movie to me.

I think the fact that Popper's Penguins has gotten better reviews and ratings than GL is such a joke... That tells me everything I need to know. Sorry, but I'm not going to watch Carrey baby-sit penguins over what looks to me like an interesting superhero movie.
PS: It's also got a better rating than Pirates? Yeah, I liked that one... Ahhh, critics. *chuckles* Oh how they amuse me.
