Last week, the third chapter of the popular Meet the Parents series Little Fockers was at the top of the box office charts for a second week in a row and earned a weekend total of $25.7 million. While the Coen Brother's True Grit, came in a very close second place last week with $24.4 million. With only one new film hitting the charts this week, Season of the Witch staring Nicolas Cage, it's possible that the remake of the classic John Wayne Western could finally take the top spot.
Predicted to take over the number one spot, after two weeks on the charts, is No Country for Old Men directors Joel and Ethan Coen's True Grit, a remake of the classic John Wayne film. The movie stars an all-star cast, which includes Oscar winners Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) and Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (Milk), Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. While the movie only dropped 1.4% last week from the previous week, it earned $7,947 on each of its 3,083 screens for a weekend total of about $24.5 million. In it's first two weeks of release the movie has now made $86.7 million, which earns back more than twice its initial $38 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $15.6 million this weekend.
Predicted to drop one place from last week to number two, for the first time since it entered the charts two weeks ago, is the third chapter of the popular Meet the Parents series, Little Fockers. The film features returning stars Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder), Teri Polo (The West Wing), Owen Wilson (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) and Oscar winners Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), Barbra Streisand (Funny Girl) and Dustin Hoffman (Tootsie), as well as new cast members Jessica Alba (Sin City), Harvey Keitel (Cop Land) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park). While the movie dropped 14.7% last week from the week before, it earned $7,400 on each of its 3,554 screens for a weekend total of about $26.3 million. In it's first two weeks of release the movie has now made $103.1 million, which earns back its entire $100 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $17.5 million this weekend.
Predicted to hold steady at number three for the third week in a row is the sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 film, Tron, Tron: Legacy. The film picks up twenty-eight years after the first movie and stars the originals two leads Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) and Bruce Boxleitner (Scarecrow and Mrs. King), as well as Garrett Hedlund (Friday Night Lights), Olivia Wilde (Cowboys and Aliens), Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon), James Frain (True Blood) and Beau Garrett (Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer). While the movie fell 4.4% last week from the week before, it earned $5,440 on each of its 3,365 screens for a weekend total of about $18.3 million. In just three weeks of release the movie has now made $130.8 million, which almost earns back its entire $170 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $11.7 million this weekend.
Predicted to debut at number four this week is the new supernatural thriller from director Dominic Sena (Whiteout) called Season of the Witch. The film stars Oscar winner Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Ulrich Thomsen (Centurion), Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire) and screen legend Christopher Lee (The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers). Currently the movie has an average rating of a 5.0 on our site. Out of the seven people who have rated the film, all seven of them have given it five stars. Here is what our official reviewer had to say about the movie, "A somewhat entertaining supernatural thriller that seems better suited as a made-for-TV-movie than a feature film starring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage. None-the-less the movie delivers what is promised, a semi-engaging sword & sorcery flick with spotty VFX at best." The movie is predicted to earn about $9.9 million in its opening week.
Predicted to come in at number five this week after two weeks in limited release is the new musical drama Country Strong, from The Greatest director, Shana Feste. The movie stars Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespeare in Love), Tim McGraw (The Blind Side), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl). Last week the movie rose 148.6% from its debut the previous week and earned $21,500 on each of its 2 screens for a weekend total of $43,000. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $8.2 million this weekend.

Predicted to slip two places from last week to number six is the live-action version of the classic cartoon Yogi Bear. The movie stars the voice talent of Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers) and Justin Timberlake (The Social Network). While the movie dropped 46.4% last week from the week before, it earned $2,504 on each of its 3,515 screens for a weekend total of about $8.8 million. In it's first two weeks of release the movie has now earned $36.7 million, which is not quite half of its initial $80 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $8.1 million this weekend.
Predicted to hold at number seven, for a second week in a row, is the critically acclaimed new film from Three Kings director David O. Russell, entitled The Fighter. The movie is based on the true story of boxing champ Micky Ward and stars an impressive cast of actors including Mark Wahlberg (The Other Guys), Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Amy Adams (Leap Year) and Melissa Leo (Don McKay). Last week, the movie rose 32.0% from the week before and was shown on 23 more screens, for a total of 2,534. It earned $3,948 in each theater for a weekend total of $10 million. In addition to several Golden Globe nominations the film has now earned 46.3 million in four weeks of release, which exceeds its $25 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $7.3 million this weekend.
Predicted to fall three places from last week to number eight is the third chapter of the popular The Chronicles of Narnia series, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader. The film follows the adventures of Pevensie children as they make their third trip to the magical land of Narnia. The film stars Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Will Poulter and Bill Nighy, Simon Pegg and Liam Neeson. The movie moved up 10.8% last week from the week before, earning $3,562 on each of its 2,948 screens for a weekend total of about $10.5 million. In just over a month of release the movie has now earned $87.1 million, which brings it a little closer to earning back its initial $155 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $6.1 million this weekend.
Predicted drop three places from last week to number nine is Tangled, the 50th animated feature film from Walt Disney Pictures, based on the classic "Rapunzel" fairy tale. The movie stars a talented cast of voice actors including Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Zachary Levi (Chuck), Donna Murphy (Star Trek: Insurrection), Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy). While the movie actually rose 52.5% last week from the week before, it was shown on 2,582 screens, earning $3,797 on each screen for a weekend total of about $9.8 million. In the last six weeks the movie has earned around $167 million, which is just over half of its purported $260 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $5.2 million this weekend.
Finally, predicted to hold steady at number ten for the second week in a row is the Oscar bait, The King's Speech. The film stars Colin Firth (Bridget Jones's Diary), Helena Bonham Carter (Alice in Wonderland), Guy Pearce (Memento), Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl) and Michael Gambon (Layer Cake). The film rose 73.4% last week from the week before and was seen in 700 theaters, earning $11,108 on each screen for a weekend total of $7.7 million. The movie has now made $22.9 million in just over a month, earning back its entire $15 million production budget. Pretty good predictions. . . not that it's really very hard to predict a weekend like this :P True Grit won't get more than 15 mil I'd say. It'll face a pretty heavy drop-off.
Why does Season of the Witch have 9.9??? Ugh. 7.6 is my guess.

I think these projections are about right. Hopeful True Grit can indeed finally get the top spot this weekend. Going to see Season of the Witch tonight. I know most people will pass on it but I am a huge Nick Cage fan.
