Most people are being drawn in because of Hugh and other hunky actors. If Singer had gotten a 5 foot 3 man and ugly to boot for Logan I would have been happier. I do like Hugh as an actor and he's very convincing as Logan but he's too much of a model. X-men is a team and it should be treated as such. I haven't seen the new film yet but judging by the comments I must see it now. My point in the hole matter is that Hugh is too good looking. When part two comes out some people will be wondering where Logan is when he's not there.
@dan that's exactly how I feel. Vaughn has set the tone for a much better xmen series than singer ever did. Honestly xmen 1 and 2 was about wolverine and who he was. Part 3 was jean becoming the phoenix but still focused around her and Logan. That's why by the time origins came out it didn't make as much money. Other than seeing him actually become wolverine we already knew the rest by watching xmen.
@superman81 When I saw the film with a friend of mine and his wife, after it was over I asked them both how they felt about it. His wife mentioned that it was alright, probably not something she'd see again, but she liked the Wolverine cameo. Now, I'm in no way putting her down, that's her opinion and I totally respect that, but I'm also willing to bet that's exactly what a lot of people thought, too. Because it didn't feature Wolverine dominantly, they think that brings the movie down, which I find unfortunate, because Wolverine doesn't encompass the entire X-Men universe, not by a long shot. Is he a favorite? Most definitely, but I see First Class becoming underrated by the general public, just like Vaughn's other works. Their loss, not mine (or your's, sir).
Boxofficemojo said Xmen made just over 56 million. Which is lower than Thor and on pace with Incredible Hulk. They said it was due to Wolverine not being in the film. I agree that I'm more of a Wolverine fan but I think the xmen are more about just wolverine. Too bad other people didn't see that. I still hope marvel will green light a sequel.
Yeah, the latest Pirates flick was much closer to the first two films. If First Class beats out Thor at the Box Office when it's all said and done, I won't be shocked but personally I felt Thor was the better overall film. Now bring on Green Lantern and Capt. America!
@zender I second that about PA3. The first two were terrible and nothing special at all. But it does seem like the series is slipping big time at the box office so hopefully people are even smarter this time around and end this terrible franchise once and for all.
I hop really hope it out does Thor's opening weekend, it should, it just grossed $21million yesterday. How much did Thor gross in it's first day of release?
There are too many films I want to see this year and it looks like I might be working on a film. Oh did you guys hear that PA3 is being filmed, what a waste of money.
just seen xmen movie was great it should be number one, in the sequel i think they are bringing in Scott or storm one of the leaders of the team and i think night-crawler might show up but as a baby
@thedude1 @superman81 The differnce between Pirates and First Class is simple: Star Power. Pirates has Depp, Cruz, and Rush. X-Men has McAvoy, Fassbender, and Bacon. Do the math fellas. The starpower is nowhere near equal.
@superman81 Don't think Scott Summers will be in Vaughn's take of the franchise, even if we got Havoc. But yeah, I get what your saying. As for Nightcrawler, well, now that Azazel and Mystique are in the same team, we may probably see their relationship unfold.
Seems its pretty obvious that only comic book fans are going to see xmen first class. No stupid 3D to raise more money. People don't appreciate a great movie when they are given one. This movie doesn't need huge stars or lots of well known characters. I wish Singer had done this with his first 2 movies. Honestly xmen 1,2,3 and origins all made the money it did cause Wolverine was in it. He is what everyone cares about. Not professor X, cyclops, storm ,or Magneto. If it wasn't for wolverine the other xmen movies would probably not done as well. And u could tell by origins lower numbers that people were getting burnt out on wolverine. Though when they seen him as a cameo in FC, the whole theater went nuts!!! I know Vaughn said only one new character would be in the sequel but how can they not add cyclops, nightcrawler, and Iceman? They need to add jean as well. I hope they will use Apocalypse sometime in the movies as well. Can't always fight Magneto.
X-Men: First Class is only in pace for 58 million this weekend according to Deadline.com. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!?? It was a very good movie. People flocked to see Pirates 4 and not this movie? It makes no sense to me at all.
@dan1 i agree with you bro... i think i was swayed after seeing the first cap trailer, and even though i am not a big fan of ryan reynolds i think GL will be a fun popcorn movie... it cant be any worse than HULK, or fantastic four, or batman and robin... I will probably wait to hear the reception on it first though, but cap i wasnt too sold on evans being him, but look forward to it, it will be nice to see a superhero film that is a period piece as well, which is something that we have not seen yet.
@bawnian-dexeus i have, but for the most part i think it is the economy, it costs a lot to go to the movies these days especially big families not to mention the mark up on popcorn and soda.
Hey i am gonna give Evans credit but the CA trailer just hasn't impressed me. I never was a Captain America fan really anyways. But I wanna see it to see the Avengers unfold. I think Vaughn made an awesome movie and besides Nolan are the best at making comic movies.
