There were no surprises last week as Saw 3D, the seventh and final chapter in the popular horror franchise, killed at the box office and dominated the Halloween weekend with $22.5 million. But it may have a tough time chopping up the competition this weekend, with three highly anticipated new films entering the box office race. Those new films include the animated movie MegaMind, Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls and Todd Phillips's Due Date, all of which are expected to bump the reigning champ out of the top spot on the charts.
Predicted to debut at number one is the new super-hero themed animated family film MegaMind, which stars Will Ferrell (The Other Guys), Tina Fey (Baby Mama), Jonah Hill (Superbad) and Brad Pitt (Troy). Currently the movie has an average rating of a 4.7 on our site. Out of the thirteen people who have rated the film ten of them have given it five stars while the trailer for the movie has had over 9,000 views. While the movie dropped nearly 28.1% last week from the week before, it was added in seventy-six theaters, earning $3,228 on each of its 3,349 screens for a weekend total of about $10.8 million. Now in just three weeks the movie has made $58.9 million, holding strong on the charts and earning back its entire $58 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $7.9 million this weekend.

Predicted to drop a drastic four places from last week to number six is the sequel to last year's extremely popular psychological horror film, Paranormal Activity, Paranormal Activity 2 starring Katie Featherston. While the movie dropped nearly 59.4% last week from its debut the previous week, it was added in twenty-three theaters, earning $5,094 on each of its 3,239 screens for a weekend total of about $16.5 million. In just two weeks the movie has made roughly $65 million, which far surpasses its $3 million production budget earning a profit of roughly $62 million. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $7.5 million this weekend.
Predicted to fall three spots from last week to number seven is the third installment of the film adaptation of the popular MTV reality series Jackass, Jackass 3D. In the film, Johnny Knoxville (The Dukes of Hazzard) returns for punishment along with his friends Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius and Jason Acuña. While the movie dropped nearly 60.5% last week from the week before, it was added in twenty-eight theaters, earning $2,684 on each of its 3,139 screens for a weekend total of about $8.4 million. In only three weeks the movie has already made $101.5 million, surpassing its $20 million production budget and earning a profit of over $80 million. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $5.2 million this weekend.
Predicted to drop three places from last week to number eight is the latest film from Oscar winning director Clint Eastwood (Gran Torino) called Hereafter. The film stars Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity), Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3) and Jay Mohr (Go). While the movie dropped nearly 47.4% last week from the week before, it was added in 243 theaters, earning $2,607 on each of its 2,424 screens for a weekend total of about $6.3 million. In three weeks the movie has only made $22.1 million, falling short of earning back its entire $50 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $3.9 million this weekend.
Predicted to fall three spots from last week to number nine is Walt Disney Pictures latest sports film Secretariat, based on the true story of the triple-crown winning racehorse. The film stars Oscar nominees Diane Lane (Unfaithful), John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire) and James Cromwell (Babe), as well as Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck), Kevin Connolly (Entourage), Fred Dalton Thompson (Die Hard 2: Die Harder) and Scott Glenn (The Hunt for Red October). While the movie dropped nearly 28.5% last week from the week before, it earned $1,611 on each of its 3,108 screens, for a weekend total of $5 million. Now in just over a month the movie has held strong and made roughly $37.4 million, which earns back its entire $35 million production budget. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $3.3 million this weekend.
Finally, predicted to drop three places from last week to number ten is the latest film from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button director David Fincher called The Social Network. The movie, which is about the founding of Facebook stars a cast of excellent young actors that includes Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland), Andrew Garfield (Never Let Me Go), Rooney Mara (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Rashida Jones (I Love You, Man) and Justin Timberlake (Alpha Dog). The movie dropped nearly 38.0% last week from the previous week and it was seen in 154 less theaters than the week before. But it still earned roughly $1,632 on each of its 2,767 screens, for a weekend total of $4.5 million. Now in just over a month the movie has made $79.5 million, which earns back its entire $50 million production budget and then some. The movie is predicted to earn an additional $2.4 million this weekend. man these are some way high expectations for these movies to make...I think this could go either way, at my local theater the last 2 showings for Due Date sold out but Megamind did not...but Megamind is a family film and therefore has the better ability to take the number 1 spot regardless of the expectations here...either way I personally liked both films and Im sure both movies will make some good money.

Drag me to hell was a average movie but not terrible it received high praise (which i disagreed with) but it wasnt bad. It did contain scary scenes.

Drag Me to Hell was meh. Only scene I enjoyed in it was the part where the assistant guy gets possessed. That part reminded me of old school Evil Dead Raimi. Other then that, it was forgettable.

Well.. It wasn't terrible. I was just confused. Reviews were calling it funny, and ... I didn't laugh :p Nor was I scared. I was just baffled. Maybe I just missed the point of the film entirely... Love the original Halloween. Hate every single sequel and remake of it however.

I know it is all opinion and that the fans rated it but to rank something like Drag Me to Hell higher or anywhere near Halloween is beyond stupid. And I'm sorry you feel that way about Phantasm. Sadly it doesn't get a lot of respect for being one of the best horror movies of all time.

They lost all respect not only from me but they should have lost respect from everyone after they released that top 50 horror movies of all time last month.
