As expected last week, director Ben Affleck's second effort The Town won over audience members and critics alike with excellent reviews and a $23.8 million opening weekend total. Also, doing well in its debut last week and gaining rave reviews is the new high school comedy Easy a starring Emma Stone. But with three very strong new contenders coming to the box office race this weekend, Zack Snyder's computer animated 3D family film Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, Oliver Stone's long awaited sequel to his classic '80s movie Wall Street, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and the new romantic comedy You Again starring Kristen Bell, it is likely that we will be crowning a new box office king by Monday morning.
Predicted to debut at number one this week is the latest film from visionary director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Dawn Of The Dead) called Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. The computer animated film about a group of heroic owls stars an all-star cast of voice actors including Oscar winners Helen Mirren (The Queen) and Geoffrey Rush (Shine) as well as Hugo Weaving (The Matrix), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Jim Sturgess (21), Emilie de Ravin (Lost) and Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch).
Currently the movie has an average rating of 4.4 on our site. Out of the sixteen people who have rated the film, thirteen of them have given it five stars. While the teaser trailer for the movie has had over 20,000 views. Predicted to fall two places from last week to number three is the new film from actor turned director Ben Affleck (Gone Baby Gone), which is already earning Oscar buzz, called The Town. The bank robbery thriller that takes place in Boston stars a stellar cast of actors which in addition to Affleck himself includes Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Blake Lively (Gossip Girl), Rebecca Hall (Please Give) and Oscar winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation). Last week the movie made $8,319 on each of its 2,861 screens for a wicked opening weekend total of $23.8 million. The film has received very positive reviews from critics and is predicted to make an additional $15.2 million, which will be enough to earn back its entire $37 million production budget.
Predicted to debut at number four this week is the new romantic comedy You Again, about a young woman who must deal with the demons of her past when her brother marries her high school rival. The film stars a talented group of female performers including Kristen Bell (When in Rome), Odette Yustman (Rogues Gallery), Sigourney Weaver (Avatar), Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies), Kristin Chenoweth (Four Christmases) and Betty White (The Proposal). Currently the movie has an average rating of a 4.0 on our site. Out of the five people who have rated the film three of them have given it five stars while the trailer for the movie has had barely 3,000 views. The movie is predicted to earn $12.4 million this weekend in its debut.
Rounding off the top five and predicted to drop three spaces from its debut last week is the Scarlet Letter themed high school comedy Easy a starring Emma Stone (Zombieland, Superbad). The film's talented cast also includes Oscar nominees Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones), Patricia Clarkson (Pieces of April) and Thomas Haden Church (Sideways) as well as Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Penn Badgley ((Gossip Girl), Amanda Bynes (Hairspray) and screen legend Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange). The movie made $6,373 last week on each of its 2,856 screens for an excellent opening weekend total of $18.2 million, earning back it's entire $8 million production budget and a pretty nice profit as well. It is expected to earn an additional $11.9 million at the box office this weekend.

Predicted to drop three spots down from last week to number six is a new supernatural thriller based on a story written by the film's producer, director M. Night Shyamalan, called Devil. The film stars Chris Messina (Greenberg), Geoffrey Arend ((500) Days of Summer), Caroline Dhavernas (The Switch), Jacob Vargas (Death Race), Bokeem Woodbine (Ray) and Matt Craven (The Clearing). Last week the movie made $4,480 on each of its 2,809 screens for a frightening opening weekend total of $12.5 million, earning back it's entire $10 million production budget and then some. It is expected to earn an additional $5.8 million at the box office this weekend.
Predicted to fall three places from last week to number seven is the fourth chapter of the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Afterlife, based on the popular video game. Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) returns in the lead role and is accompanied by a talented cast of actors, which includes Ali Larter (Heroes), Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Boris Kodjoe (Surrogates) and Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy). While the movie dropped an astonishing 62.1% last week from its debut the previous week and was actually added in six new theaters earning roughly $3,147 on each of its 3,209 screens for a weekend total of $10.1 million. In its first two weeks the movie has made over $43 million but even with an additional $5.1 million this weekend will still be shy of earning back its initial $60 million production budget.
Predicted to drop three places from last week to number eight is the new 3-D computer animated film Alpha and Omega. The movie stars a talented cast of voice actors including Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard), Hayden Panettiere (Heroes), Christina Ricci (Speed Racer), Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon 2), Larry Miller (Pretty Woman) and screen legend, the late Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider). Last week the movie made $3,505 on each of its 2,625 screens for a decent opening weekend total of $9.2 million. The movie is predicted to make an additional $4.3 million this weekend but will still be short of earning back its initial $20 million production budget.
Predicted to slip three places this week to number ten is the hip-hop heist film Takers. The movie boasts an all-star cast, which includes Paul Walker (Fast & Furious), Idris Elba (The Losers), Matt Dillon (Armored), Hayden Christensen (Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith), Michael Ealy (Miracle at St. Anna), Jay Hernandez (Quarantine), Chris Brown (Stomp the Yard), T.I. (American Gangster), and Zoe Saldana (Avatar). While the movie dropped almost 46.7% last week from the previous week and was seen in 52 less theaters, it still earned roughly $1,415 on each of its 2,139 screens for a weekend total of $3 million. Now in over a month the movie has made about $52.3 million earning back its entire $32 million production cost and then some. It is expected to earn an additional $3.6 million at the box office this weekend.
Finally, predicted to fall three places to number ten this week from last week is the international espionage thriller starring Oscar winner George Clooney (Syriana), entitled The American. While the movie dropped almost 52.9% last week from the previous week, it was actually added in ten theaters and earned roughly $1,008 on each of its 2,457 screens for a weekend total of $2.6 million. In just over a month the movie has mow made over $32 million earning back its entire $20 million production budget. It is expected to earn an additional $2.3 million at the box office this weekend. Owls was a disappointment, and in no way is Owls better than NIMH, if that's what you're saying @Blockbusterfan - NIMH had the visuals AND a coherent story. Everything about Owls (besides the visuals) was just blah. Just my opinion. Review to come later.

The Legend of the Owls will be #1 while Wall Street 2 will be in #2 both of these films are strong contenders except You Again (it won't beat Easy A)!
The Fall War is getting more exciting
Next month will be October , the least common box office hit month (the only sure-fire hits are Saw 7,Paranormal Activity 2 & Jackass 3,The Social Network might be a hit!)

Both The Social Network and Let Me In are getting immensely positive reviews. I just saw Guardians and man that animation was beautiful stuff, the movie overall was pretty enjoyable I thought, definitely needs to be seen in 3D. But for this weekend I think Wall Street might take out Guardians for #1. Next weekend The Social Network will more than likely do better than Let Me In because it has a PG-13 rating and it's been advertised more. Let Me In I think will still do fairly well even with it's R rating. I want to see both pretty badly, some are even saying Let Me In is better than the original which is definitely a bold statement.

@Cartman, I agree with @REAL. I think Legends will indeed have a decent run from youth and animation fans alike, but for number one spot? Definitely gonna go to The Social Network. The film's story directly affects over half a billion users... that's pretty solid numbers right there.

Incorrect @Cartman. The buzz is HUGE for Social Network. It has a good lead actor, a heavyweight director, and a controversial, relevant tale that's going to resonate with a lot of people. Snyder's owl movie will have it's niche, but it's reign won't last long, if it even has one.
